Blog: Earth Energy / Earth Power

A light, and at times humorous, exploration of a very important subject

An edited partial transcription of the Lazaris recording "Earth Energy / Earth Power"

Well, a pleasure to be here and a pleasure to be talking with you this afternoon. We have only done this kind of afternoon one other time, and that time we primarily focused on creating your reality, which we have discussed many times in many different ways. This afternoon there are a number of different topics we want to talk about, each very important to understand in the extension of creating your own reality, in the understanding of your power.

You see, you've heard many, many times that you create your own reality. You've learned the phrase very well. You can trip it off your tongue very easily. You could answer the test questions correctly, if there were ever such a test. "Do you or do you not create your own reality?" ... {laughter} ... You'd get the answer right, you know? ... {laughter} ... You've heard it, and you've read it, and indeed metaphysics has been saying that you create your own reality -- on again and off again, admittedly -- for aeons of time, ever since there's been that level of community.

It tends to come on and go off depending upon people's willingness to be powerful. And in realities or times or sequences of your reality when people are willing to take their own power then indeed the concept of "creating my reality" becomes much more real, much more vivid. But at times when you're afraid of power or want to deny it or want to shove it away, then suddenly "creating your own reality" seems to be but a wisp of a thought somewhere off in some ancient's or mystic's mind, yes? ... {laughter} ...

You know, you learn this -- that you create your own reality --but how many of you really know it? How many of you really know that you create your own reality?

We have been talking about it for years. Metaphysics has been dealing with it for aeons of time. Physics -- not even metaphysics, but physics -- has been dealing with the fact that you create your own reality since approximately 1925 with Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle and Neils Bohr's principles around the quantum. In fact, in quantum theory, there is this wonderful concept that there are no observers in reality, that everyone is a participant, and that reality bends and molds according to your thought, according to your attitudes, according to your expectations, your beliefs, and your imagination.

All of that has been very scientifically theorized and then demonstrated, and it was all put forth between 1925 and 1935! Where were you? ... {laughter} ... Some of you were finishing up other lifetimes so you could hurry up and get into this one, absolutely! ... {laughter} ... So the quantum idea, and the scientific proof that you do create your own reality, has been around a very, very long time.

So why do you have difficulty with it? Why do you deny it? Why do you pretend it's not true? Or, even if you don't pretend it's not true and you try to grasp it, why do you have such difficulty?

Why? Why? Because you do understand enough about your power. When you understand more about your own power and then combine that understanding with the knowledge that you create your own reality, it becomes real.

And so this afternoon, as we talk about the earth, the thread is power. And the power we want to look at is the power of the Earth and talk about certain aspects therein that are often curious and cumbersome to people.

See, first of all, the Earth is a consciousness. Now, let in more than just the words, more than just something you could get correct if asked on a test. "Is the Earth a consciousness? Yes/No" ... Let it in: It is a consciousness. Just because it doesn't have a human form doesn't mean that it's not alive. See, there is sometimes a certain egocentricity that you as human beings have. You assume that if it's not human it's not real, yes? Or else it's worth enslaving ... whatever ... {laughter} ... But we would suggest here that the Earth is a consciousness as much as you are a consciousness. It just didn't choose to have a body form like you do. It chose to have a body form like it has.

And just as you are curious and wondering about where its head and feet and chakra centers are -- where's its heart chakra? -- so it is curious about you. It wonders why you have those strange growths that come out of your shoulders and your body, and why you walk around like you do instead of gracefully spinning ... {laughter} ... But it accepts you. It would be great if you accepted it as a consciousness, too.

As a consciousness the Earth has a vibration, a frequency of vibration, a very powerful frequency of vibration. And as that consciousness with vibration, it has power. It has power.

You see, many assume -- again egocentrically -- that the Earth's power is no greater than your own, and that it is expressed in the same fashion and manner as your own. In fact, it would be freaky and scary to consider that the Earth may be a lot more powerful than you -- have a lot greater ability to act than you. That indeed may be frightening to many, and so they would rather think that the earth is inert, having no power whatsoever - - that it may rumble a bit here and there, or explode here and there, but that it has no power. But to consider that it might have power -- and might even have more power than you -- is a scary thought for many. To consider that it might even be more sophisticated in its growth than you is a thought that is frightening to many people.

But in fact the Earth is a very beautiful power, and a very wonderful power, and in many ways it has a greater ability to act than you do. In many ways, therefore, it is more powerful ... not the least of which is that it knows its power and it can accept it and work with it.

And in certain ways we would suggest the Earth is an older consciousness than you are (it has certainly been around longer), and in the wisdom of its age, it is in many ways -- not all, but in many ways -- more sophisticated than you.

And that need not be a threat. That need not be bad news. Rather, it can be something to celebrate. A newfound friend that is stronger than you! How do you like that! A newfound friend that you can lean upon, that you can work with.

Four Relationships with the Earth ...

In fact, there are four relationships that you can have with the Earth.

One is a relationship of working together, and that is a relationship of co-creating with the Earth.

Another you can have is a relationship of giving -- where you give to the Earth. You see, the Earth loves herself, itself, himself (however you prefer). The Earth loves herself in those places where the Earth is alive and beautiful. And the Earth doesn't love itself in other places. And those other places are where the Earth does not seem alive, where it seems to be dead. That's where the Earth does not love itself.

You can give to the Earth. You can give the Earth love. Teach the Earth that it can love itself. Teach the Earth to love, for you might learn something. In those places where the Earth needs love, where the Earth seems dead, love the Earth.

And you also can give to the Earth also by understanding and working in harmony with the Earth, in harmony with the future that the Earth is attempting to produce.

And as well as working with and giving to the Earth, you can also receive from the Earth. Let the Earth teach you. Let the Earth give to you. In those places where the Earth is alive, let the Earth love you. Give the Earth that privilege. Give it that opportunity to love you.

And finally, you can be loved by the Earth. And the Earth can be loved by you. Now what does "being loved" mean? Remember: being loved means that you are changed by the love that is felt. "Because the Earth loves me, I am a different person. And because I love the Earth, the Earth changes."

You can have that kind of impact. You can be that significant in your reality, to work with, to give to, to receive from, and to be changed because of it. And the Earth similarly can work with you, and can receive from you, and can give back to you, and can be changed because of you. You and the Earth can establish an intimate relationship. You and the Earth can have a loving relationship. For that is what is involved in intimacy, is it not? That is what is involved with love, is it not?

Now to love the Earth ... Does that mean you have to lie down and embrace it? For some, maybe. But realize, the Earth, like you, is an illusion. Yes ... the Earth ... like you ... is an illusion. It's a hologram. It's a holographic image. It's an expression of light trapped by your desire, your expectation, and your imagination. And therefore, like every other holographic image, any part of it contains the whole. Any piece of it contains the whole. And therefore, if you love this piece of Earth, you are loving the totality of Earth. That love becomes a part of the whole. And if the Earth loves you, that love becomes part of all that you are.

So there is a very important relationship between you and the Earth. Why else would you have bothered creating it? You see, you have created your whole reality. You are the ones that have done it -- each of you individually has created the Physical, Astral, Causal, and Mental Planes of reality. You have created all of it -- the Earth, the sun, the moon, the stars.

You've created it because you intend to have a relationship with it. And at a certain point in your growth, you stop walking across the earth as though it were inert, as though it had no power, as though it were a rock, and you start to recognize the consciousness that it is, the power that it is. And you start tapping into and using that power as part of the greater power of the spirituality that you are about.

Tapping into the Earth's Power ...

So how do you tap into that power? How do you reach and touch and work with the Earth's energy that is indeed quite immense?

There are a number of ways ... as you might suspect. Probably seven of them. ... {laughter} ... All right ...

(1) Moving Meditation

The first way is through Moving Meditation -- the martial arts used positively as meditative means as in T'ai Chi. The Earth's energy is called Chi or Ki, depending upon which part of the Orient you are from. It's the Ki energy that energy you lodge below your navel, deep within the pit of your being. And when you study T'ai Chi or Aikido it is centering and focusing your energy -- drawing in the Earth's energy and aligning yourself with that energy. So "two or more are gathered ..." to produce an end result more powerful than either could produce alone.

Now, that will work, though we don't necessarily say all of you should start studying T'ai Chi ... because that's the first method, and there are six others!

(2) Grounding and Holding

The second method is not as elaborate, admittedly. You don't get any belts of any color for this ... {laughter} ... and it doesn't look impressive. But the second method is what we call grounding and holding. You can ground to the energy of the Earth, hook into it, and hold the energy.

You can do it one of two ways.

One way is to go outside, take off your shoes, and stand on the Earth -- not on the concrete or the asphalt, not on the redwood deck, but rather on the Earth itself. Wiggle your toes to get down to the ground. Sure, you can stand on the grass, but if you wiggle your toes you can get in between the blades of grass and down there to the Earth so you're really touching the Earth, the soil.

Then what you do is close your eyes, and sense a ball of light above your head, a wondrous ball of light floating above your head. Take a very deep breath, inhaling, inhaling, inhaling -- filling your lungs as fully as you can. Let your shoulders broaden to fill your entire diaphragm. Now, some of you can't breathe that deeply. Just do what you can. This is not to suffer over. It's to draw in the Earth's energy.

Then as you exhale -- holding that breath until you're ready -- sense that ball of light coming down to the top of your head, moving in through your head, through your neck, down your spinal column to the base of your spine. Then sense that ball of light coming out of your body at that point and -- as you are skewered on this light -- let it plunge into the earth -- still on your exhale. So it's an exhale the whole time as the ball falls through you, out of you, and down into the earth.

Then you hold your exhale -- comfortably, though. Then inhale, and as you inhale sense yourself drawing the energy of the Earth into you. And then exhale, and then inhale again, drawing more of that energy in. And you may find that it takes three or four breaths. The first one may go only to the knees. The second one maybe to the waist. The third one to mid-torso. And the fourth one may be filling you fully and completely. Or you may find it's two breaths or six or whatever. Just let it be what it is. Draw that energy in through that beam of light that you have plunged deep into the earth.

You have grounded and you have held into the Earth to draw that energy into you. That will similarly fill you with that Chi or Ki energy, and make you balanced and aligned with the earth.

And from that position then, program or process or put forth your energy, or state your demands, or move forward into your reality to create the reality you want. It will work very powerfully, very wonderfully.

The other way of doing this is one you use when you can't go outside. You're in your office downtown, 12th floor. If you could make it to the street, then it's about 14 blocks to any grass ... {laughter} ... "so I guess I can't tap into the Earth's energy until I get home." No, no, no, you can't slip out of it that easily! ... {laughter} ... We would suggest there are other ways to do it.

As you're seated in a chair -- no matter what level above the ground you are, even in an airplane -- you can ground yourself to the Earth by inhaling. Sense that light above you once again and hold it there for a moment to sense it, to center it, to be ready. This time on the exhale, draw it again down into your head, through your neck, through the torso of your body, down the spinal column, exiting the body at the base of the spine, etc. This time the light goes through the bottom of the chair, through the floor, all the way down to the Earth that somewhere is there beneath you. Still exhaling, the beam of light plunges into the rock. Similarly then, hold it for a moment, and then draw it back in. And similarly, in the three or four -- however many -- breaths you need, draw that energy in and fill yourself with it.

The beam of light can extend miles, so you need not be limited by your space.

Those are two ways in which you can ground and hold the Earth's energy. Then work with it in your own programming and processing and meditative techniques. That's the second way.

(3) Power Points of the Earth

A third way which has been practiced by the ancients and has been practiced by all metaphysicians through most time, even up to the current time, is to understand that your Earth is a consciousness. Therefore, like you, it has energy patterns, has flows of energy or ley lines that travel across it -- just as you have acupuncture or acupressure points that fall upon meridians -- governing meridians, lung and spleen meridians -- that travel throughout the body.

And as you well know from what rudimentary understanding of acupuncture or acupressure you may have, by pushing or inserting a needle in a certain location, you can very effectively and wonderfully change other parts of your body. You may put something in your ear for headaches or for weight loss or for changing moods or whatever. Touching something around your knee, or placing a needle just below on the shin, might have profound effects on other parts of the body. It doesn't "make any sense" except to understand there are flows of energy throughout the body.

We have talked on numerous occasions about the types of energy -- the vertical energy that runs up and down the body, the horizontal energy that runs back and forth, the spiraling energy that very elegantly rotates in its 30 degree spin or a spiral around you -- and then the random energy that just seems to be moving in all directions simultaneously. They are all energy patterns around you.

Well, the Earth is no different than you. It is a consciousness. It has a different form, but it is a consciousness, and therefore it similarly has these flows of energy, its own sort of ley lines, its own sort of meridians. And if you can go to those places where those ley lines cross -- if you can go to those places where those meridian lines have a point of release of energy, a vortex of energy -- you can tap into the Earth's energy.

Many have said that mountains, various volcanic mountains from Kilauea in Hawaii to Mt. Shasta and Mt. St. Helens up in the north, have always been seen as points of power. They have always been held by the aboriginals who lived there or by the transients that have come in as a point of power, a place in which the Earth has power. Go to Mt. Shasta and simply ask, "Does this place have power?" and you will hear 45 different voices telling you yes for 45 different reasons. But they all agree, "There's power in them thar hills." ... {laughter} ... In Marin County (north of San Francisco) there is lovely Mt. Tamalpais, and there is power there. The Indians say it in their folklore: There's power there.

And often where there is power you find Standing Stones. Even on Mt. Tam if you have been up a little farther than the government lets you go, you can find that there are the Standing Stones of Mt. Tamalpais as well. And many places have their Standing Stones, because what's there is that the ancients discovered these power spots. They didn't necessarily know about ley lines, or about meridians in an acupuncture sense (though they did in the Far East), but they did know that they felt something here. "There is power here. I can feel it."

Some were sensitive enough to feel it. Others had to trust that it was there. Some of those that were sensitive could discern the energy and its different patterns. And therefore, they depicted that. They gave the energy a signature, depicted that energy in the stones they stood around it. Therefore, at Stonehenge -- one of the most famous places of standing stones -- there's a massive vortex of energy there. And when it was first discovered, the sensitives could feel it. And certain of those sensitives could tell the size of the vortex, and therefore laid at its circumference certain stones to depict the energy's vortex. And then certain crossbeams were laid to indicate certain "wobbles" in that energy, because it didn't move just steadily in a vortex, but had wobbles, little shifts in the energy. The stones that lay across the top were the ones which designated the wobble, and the size and frequency of that wobble, by a symbolic meaning. Now, there are other meanings for the stone placement. We are not suggesting this is the only meaning; we suggest that it is one of the meanings.

There were also spurs of energy. You think of the sun and how it is a ball of energy. It's not just sitting there radiating equally in all directions. There are electrical storms, there are sunspots, there are magnetic spots, etc. -- huge leaps of energy. Well, those are spurs of energy, and the vortices of the earth similarly have spurs of energy. Those are often represented by smaller stones that are stood in certain particular positions. The mystics that could sense it -- the ancients that could tell -- signatured the power spot with stones.

You can travel to these places, and you can draw upon the energy. The limitation to that, however, is sometimes the energy isn't always positive. That's true even with Stonehenge. It was once used very positively -- astronomically, astrologically, and as a power place of communication with the various deities that those who were there communicated with -- but it was also used for very negative rituals, very negative rituals and sacrifices. And therefore, the energy of Stonehenge is mixed. And depending on your own predilections you may well find it to your benefit, but you may well find it disconcerting and disorienting. You may well find it helping you, and you may find it hurting you.

There are so many places in the world that you can travel to where the stones are standing, where the power is. In England, it's very strong. In parts of France, in the northern Breton portion of France, there are eerily, eerily powerful stones standing all over the place, like they must have spent aeons of time standing all these stones in all these powerful places. You look at Rome and parts of Italy -- standing stones very clearly. You look at Greece, and the standing stones of the ruins, yes, but there were also standing stones. Sure, they were more sophisticated than the rocks that were piled up in England. They were pillars with capstones, but they were still stones standing - - some with keystones, some without -- some with smaller, cut pillars, some not. And now, hundreds of years later, what's left? A floor, and standing pillars. Standing stones of power, places of power.

In Egypt clearly there were standing stones. Not just pyramids. They did some of those, too ... {laughter} ... but not just pyramids. In Asian areas as well, there are wonderful places. Those who have been in the back country of Siberia find wondrous points of power. No one lives there, but there is nonetheless power emitted and taken in, transmitted, transmuted at these particular points. Wondrous places of power.

You can go there. You can draw upon the energy, you can experience the energy.

And there is a latticework, or a series of Ovals of Power. We aren't going to belabor this greatly, but just to mention that there are two Northern Hemisphere ovals, and two Southern Hemisphere Ovals of Power. And these Ovals of Power are connected by two very powerful points within the oceans.

The one northern oval is an Oval of Power that goes from San Francisco down to the Phoenix/Tempe/Sedona area, over to Houston, over to Atlanta (its twin city, another point of power), up to the New York/Boston area, across to Minneapolis, across to somewhere in Wyoming that is not by name a town, and then connecting back to San Francisco. These are epicenters, yes? Those of you in California know what an epicenter is, yes? ... {laughter} ... It's not that the power's in San Francisco and therefore if you live in Mendocino or down in Los Angeles you're out of luck. No, it's not that. These are points that radiate energy out, and they create an oval of energy.

The European Oval comes from England, of course. There's much that goes on there. You can't turn around but there's some power slapping you in the face in England. ... {laughter} ... It extends from England, down into that area of Rome or Greece, perhaps in the Aegean sea, Cairo and parts of Egypt, very clearly -- coming around to Tibet and the Himalayas up into northern China, up into northern Eurasia, and then into the Scandinavian area as it comes back to England. And that's the European Oval.

Now there is also energy that zigzags through those -- such as San Francisco down to the Arizona one, up to the Wyoming one, down to Houston, up to Minnesota, down to Atlanta, up to New York. Similarly, from England to Scandinavia, etc. But mainly the Oval of Energy is what's important to realize.

And what connects these two Ovals that sit next to each other? These two chain links as they might well be seen? These chain links of power that would otherwise be disconnected? What connects them? Atlantis. The power point is somewhere in the Atlantic Ocean that is Atlantis. Invisible, yes, but nonetheless there.

And what connects them on the other side? What connects the Asian to the Western American? Lemuria, as the point of power. Atlantis and Lemuria are the two soldering points that connect these two otherwise disconnected chain links of power.

In South America there's a chain from Peru that extends out into the Atlantic. At one time Africa and South America were together and have subsequently split apart, and so the Ovals are a little distended. There has been more movement of land in the Southern Hemisphere than there was in the Northern Hemisphere. Therefore, there is an oval that goes from Peru out into the Atlantic, linked there by Atlantis. And then an Oval across Africa and out into the area that would be the Indian Ocean, and into parts of Australia and the Indonesian Islands, linked on the other side similarly by Lemuria.

So Atlantis and Lemuria represent the two points that link the north and south, and the two chain links of energy that run around the world. And there are places within these that as you travel there you feel the power. You can experience the strength of the Earth, and you can tap into it.

But, you see, not all of you have that capacity to go traveling wherever you like. Not all of you can go heading off to these places to explore them. Though it is fun if you can, that is only the third method of tapping into the Earth's energy.

(4) Going There in Your Mind ...

The fourth method -- which is, of course, the most powerful and the most definitive -- is to go there in your mind. You can go to Stonehenge any time you wish. And furthermore, you don't have to take the flip of the coin as to whether it's going to be positive or negative for you. You can decide it's going to be positive. And you can go to Avebury also, even though some of you haven't got the foggiest idea where it is. And you can find the place in Greece ... the little street, the alleyway, right there by the bakery with the baklava ... {laughter} ... that point, you can find it. You can go to Cairo, avoiding the dust and the crowds. And you can spend your night in the King's Chamber, if you wish, in the air-conditioned comfort of your own home. You can go to these places in your mind.

You see, this is a very important point. The ancients would travel to these places. In the "good old days" the serious student would spend months traveling cross-country to go to these places. The serious student would go to India and spend however much time studying with the masters, etc. Barring no expense, no hazard, no hardship, they would do it because they were devoted to their spirituality. In the "good old days," when spiritual was spiritual ... {laughter} ... when you wanted to go meet with the Earth and commune with the Nature, you went out into the forest and stayed alone for seven days and seven nights fighting the elements. You went out into the desert and almost starved to death or sweated it out or thirsted yourself until you had your hallucinogenic awakening ... {laughter} ... Or you climbed the mountain on your own and sat there in the cold, shivering and shivering and shivering, until finally the gods relented and gave to you the knowledge so that you could return.

Back then, you did these things literally. When an Indian would go into the ground, they'd literally go underground into a kiva or into a cave. Or when you would sacrifice, they would make a sacrifice literally.

Now, today. ... "Ah! You lazy, lazy spiritual people!" ... {laughter} ... No! Not at all. You have to understand why they did that. Why did they travel to the desert and to the mountaintops? Why did they literally go underground? Why did they literally travel to India to learn? Why did they spend -- as they did in The Canterbury Tales -- their whole lives traveling in their mystical journeys? Why?

Because they didn't have the imaginative capacity to do it any other way. You see, your brain is a tool. It's a muscle. The use of that brain is a skill. If you refuse to read, refuse to think, refuse to talk, refuse to do anything, your brain is going to dwindle in its function. But when you do talk, and you think, and you read, and you force your brain to think ...

Sometimes it hurts to think. Have you ever experienced that? Some of you surely have ... {laughter} ... when you've thought so hard that your brain hurt. "Ah, that's just ... " No, that's real. Your brain literally hurts if you think hard enough, just as when you flex a muscle long enough and hard enough you get that burn. You build up muscles by using them. And if you don't, they atrophy. It is similar (not exactly the same, but similar) with your brain function.

Well, back then, in the time of the Ancients, they didn't have full use of their mental capacity like you do today. They couldn't imagine going underground, so they had to do it literally. They couldn't imagine closing their eyes and mentally going up a mountain. So they had to literally go up the mountain. They couldn't imagine closing their eyes and being in Stonehenge, so they had to literally travel to that location to experience what it held for them.

They didn't have the focus. They couldn't concentrate. They couldn't focus like you can today. They couldn't see blue then, either, as Homer's tales of the "wine red sea" -- the Mediterranean -- tell you. They saw the Mediterranean, which anyone today can tell is beautifully blue, as red. Their brains were not developed enough to see the color blue.

Magellan's records tell very clearly that as he came around the tip of South America and went ashore there, the natives literally could not see his ships. They could see the little rowboats that the men came in on, and went out on. But when the Spanish sailors would get off the rowboat to climb the ladder onto the ship, they disappeared. The natives could not see them. Literally, they would look out and see an unbroken horizon. Why? Because their brains were not capable of perceiving a reality that had three-masted ships. No wonder they thought they were gods. For out there, there is an unbroken horizon and suddenly ... pop! ... there a boat with men in it -- with this man with a funny beard and a funny metal hat standing at the helm. Must be god. "Silly!" ... Ah, what would you think if -- poof!-- there appeared somebody standing there. Ah, must be a god, must be an extraterrestrial. "Must be a spiritual leader come here to save us, to rescue us!" From what? We're not sure what you're rescuing yourself from ... from the beauty and the wonder and the marvelousness of your Earth? ... {laughter} ...

The natives couldn't see them until the shaman pointed them out, until the shaman said, "Look here, and look there, and look for this and look for that. Try. Try."

And in time the natives would say, "Ah ... ah, I'm starting to see. Does it also have something like this?"

"Yes! That's it." And then they could see it.

Now that's not conjecture. Magellan's written logs record the fact that they could not see the three-masted ships because it was not within their mental capacity to see them.

You, however, have a tremendous capacity of focusing your attention. See, don't put yourself down just because you're 20th century. Don't put yourself down just because you have technology. That technology has been a tremendous boon to your capacity to be spiritual in a more sedentary fashion ... {laughter} ... You can read. No matter how poorly you do that, you can read. And do you realize what a marvel that is? Do you ever stop and really think about it as you're buzzing through USA Today? ... {laughter} ... What a marvel it is they can take these shapes, these funny little shapes, and line them up with certain spaces and certain funny little punctuation. And you can just look at it. And you don't even have to mouth the words. You can just look at it, and pictures erupt in your mind -- in color. As you read about volcanic action somewhere you can see the lava. As you hear of massive explosions and pounds and pounds of dust, you sense the grey mist of smoke covering everything in dust. What a wonder it is that you can arrange these little flat, black letters in such a way as to open an entire vista of reality. That was impossible for people who couldn't read.

Television. As much of a wasteland as you and T. S. Eliot want to think it is ... {laughter} ... it is a marvelous thing. It is a marvelous thing because it's focusing your attention. If we say, "Visualize the Taj Mahal," you have an idea of what we're talking about, not because you all have college educations, but because you all have televisions. And if we say, " Visualize a waterfall that seems to fall forever," you can do that. You can even put the big rocks at the bottom that we didn't even mention. And you can see the mist coming up that we didn't say was there. And you can hear the thunderous roar of the water that we didn't even mention. And you could even feel it on your face before we said to. You can smell the smells of that fresh, oxidized water. And you can feel the mosses ...

For so many, it is because of television, and because of movies. They have taught you to focus your attention. They have given you the capacity to go to places in your mind's eye that hitherto were out of your reach, were beyond your perceptual ability. They have allowed you, common folk that you are ... {laugher} ... to be more powerful than the ancient shamans. They were the most powerful, because they could already see -- they could already see the ships. They could conceptualize places. They could imagine getting out of the body. So they were the leaders, the powerful ones. "Hmmmm! Heavy magic!" ... {laughter} ... If you were dropped into South American in 1643 A.D., my god! They'd be following you around as some sort of supreme guru -- some "outer space" person that has come here to "save the planet" clearly so! Why? Because you can visualize. Because you can imagine. Because you can get out of your body. Because you can imagine what it's like on the other side of the world. Because in the daylight you can imagine what it's like at night. If we were to tell you to be on a beach, you could be there. And if we said to turn it into nighttime, you would turn into nighttime. And if there were lovely little houses in back, the lights would come on. You have that capacity.

In many meditations we've taken you on in the weekends, in the matter of an hour you've traveled four or five days, seeing the sun rise and set and the night come upon you -- and then seeing the day fight away the night once again to lead to the second day.

Now, in the ancient times you couldn't have done that. In the ancient times it's ... "Hugh. Sunrise ... see it?" Now, spend x number of hours until it sets. "That's a sunset. Now it is night. See?" And twelve hours later ... "Now it's coming up again." They literally had to take four or five days to travel four or five days. We over simplify to make the point: Now you have the capacity they didn't have then.

They had capacities that you don't have also. They had an openness to belief, and a faith and a trust and an understanding -- a willingness to be unintellectual but to think, a willingness to be nonlogical. But nonetheless, though they had advantages, they had disadvantages as well. Don't always put yourself down.

You don't have to travel to these power spots. You can go there in your mind. They couldn't. You can. Take advantage of it.

(5) Build Your Own Power Spot

The fifth way you can tap into the Earth's energy is to build your own power spot. You have a yard? Build a power spot. Find a place -- not right out on the driveway ... {laughter} ... but find a place in it ... off by itself, a little private ... under that special tree, or over there in the corner of the lot where somehow it feels good, or the plants there feel so serene. Walk your property. Find your power spot on your property. It's there! And then make it your spot. Go to it, meditate there, sit there, contemplate there, do your planning and programming and visualizing there. And rather than standing stones, stand power objects. Take your crystal or take a special object that means something to you, or a special symbol or a special piece of jewelry. Take it there to consecrate the place, to stand it in the circle of this energy that is yours. Make your own power spot.

But what if you live in an apartment in the city? You can make your own spot ... it can be a table top on which you place your things of meditation, place your power. It doesn't have to be outside. It doesn't literally have to be on the earth, although it's nice for those of you who like to do that more than others do. But you can clear off a table top. And it's not going to be used for dinner tomorrow night or for paying bills next week. No, this is your power spot, and you put things there which are symbols of your power. Those of you who have crystals from the workshops can put the crystals there with other notes and little reminders. Script things that you want to have -- to be happy, to be successful. Some like candles. Some like incense. Build an altar. Build a power spot. Correspondent to going there (step #3), this is bringing it to you. Third is going there; fifth is bringing it to you.

(6) The Power of Permission and the Power of Demand

And the sixth way you can tap into that power? As the second way is by grounding and holding, the sixth way is by the Power of Permission and the Power of Demand -- the power of your words. The Power of Permission and the Power of Demand are tremendous ways to tap into the Earth's energy.

The Earth is an energy of positive and negative charge -- expansion/contraction, yin/yang, however you want to refer to it. It is an electromagnetic energy, and a piezoelectric energy, and a thermoelectric energy -- all combined to produce a charge of energy that is the Earth. It vibrates at a certain frequency. It has a resonance, and it is emitting electrical charge, positive and negative polarities. The positive and negative poles of the north and south put out a field. The Earth is a generator. The Earth is like a battery.

You are like a battery. Within you, every cell that contains the electrical impulse, positive or negative charge. Every finger releases and attracts by its negative and positive charge. A system in the upper part of the body. A system in the whole of the body. A system in the lower part of the body.

You know how a battery, a battery in your automobile works. Some of you do very well. Some of you don't have any idea at all. "I don't know. It's just a thingy up there in the corner. It gets that funny kind of green mossy stuff on it every so often." ... {laughter} ... "Pour a Coca-Cola on it and it disappears." ... {laughter} ...

Well, a battery is this thing that contains these two cells or these two poles, negative and positive, and it contains certain chemicals. They activate it by putting water in it. The water interacts with the chemicals and the electrical charges such as to create a completed circuit of electricity. Crazy, but it works.

Well, you have chemicals in you, and you add water to the chemicals to create a battery, a positive and negative electrical charge. The Earth is like a battery and so are you. What can connect the two of you? Permission, the Power of Permission.

Permission is a passive energy. No matter how dynamically and how enthusiastically, how filled you are with emotion when you do it, permission is a passive energy -- a negative charge. As you give yourself permission -- "I permit myself to be happy, I permit myself to have this job, I permit myself to be healthy now, to be done with this illness, to be done with this pain, I permit myself to be done with my negative ego and done with my martyr" -- as you give yourself permission, there is a power in that. It is a negatively charged power that connects with the positive charges of the Earth and the positive charges of you, and is the transference. Opposites attract in this sensing. Positive to negative. And in that particular regard, you transfer the energy. And therefore, you're drawing on the Earth's energy when you give yourself permission. So it's you and the Earth giving permission.

Now you don't do so in a wimpy, whiny sort of way. ... {laughter} ... You do it with a great deal of gusto, a great deal of aliveness, a great deal of vigor and energy. And therefore, rather than doing it overtly, go into meditation and give it every ounce of energy you have. Right from the very guts of yourself, give yourself that permission.

The positive, or the aggressive energy, is that of the demand, the decree, the declaration. "I declare that this is so. I announce that to the world. I proclaim it! By proclamation I so decree!" To do so in an arrogant or lofty way goes nowhere. It needs to be done with the aliveness and the vitality of jumping up and down and thrashing your arms around and declaring it, letting the whole world know.

The negative/positive polarities are permission and demand. They connect your negative/positive polarities with those of the Earth, and suddenly you have just jump-started your reality. ... {laughter} ...

It's a powerful and exciting way to tap into the Earth's energy, most definitely. And that's why it works. Not just because permission is permission, or demand is demand, but because it's a setting forth, a chain reaction, an electromagnetic chain-reaction that engulfs the Earth and embraces the Earth -- and all of the Earth, because the Earth is a hologram, and each piece of it contains the whole. Therefore, as you stand here in your reality -- wherever that reality is -- and permit and demand what you want to have happen in your reality, you are telling every part of the world and every ounce of soil on the Earth. And every human being who is touching the earth now is in tune and aligned with your decision. You've got the whole world on your side. What are you afraid of? ... {laughter} ... Why are you waiting? For one more permission. Take it. You and the Earth together. What a team.

(7) Being Responsible for a Piece of the World

And finally, the seventh way to tap into the power of the Earth is by being responsible for a piece of the world larger than your own. That's not a moving meditation. It's moving life. We encourage you to take this responsibility without judgment. It is helpful to realize: "Look, everything is happening. It's up to each of us to decide whether it's beneficial or not, and I send energy that whatever is happening happen right, happen for what's right and what's best with harm to none. And if this negativity is to continue, then have it at least be something people learn from. Let it function elegantly so that it can be done, so that they might lift their consciousness to realize you don't have to grow through pain."

It was once thought that all growth had to come from pain and struggle. Some still believe this way. Some tenaciously hold to the old order of pain and struggle because their own limited thought will not allow them to see a new horizon. They cannot see Magellan's ships, either. There is a New Age and that means that there is something new -- not just the old re-packaged and re-dressed. There is something new like growing in joy, growing in laughter, growing in love -- without the pain. Even though you can grow through pain, there is a higher state of growth that is growing through joy. There are those who insist upon pain. OK. But program, program that they might wake up and see the light, that they might someday understand that that is a way, but not the only way, and that there's a much more expansive way of growing.

Take a piece of responsibility bigger than you. That doesn't mean to dictate what should happen in any specific place, or what should happen about plane crashes -- never again should a plane crash. Rather, program that whatever happens, happens for the best, the most elegant growth possible. And then learn from that area of the world for which you are taking responsibility. What goes on there? What does it say about me? What am I saying about my own reality? What whispers or shouts may be here? To take that level of responsibility is another way to tap into the Earth. Not a moving meditation, but a moving life where you are part of the Earth that you occupy. ....

Those are ways to tap into that energy. And it is important to do so. It's not just a frivolous opportunity. It's important because you've got a future waiting. You've got a future that's counting on you. You've got a future that many are saying is a doom that is destined to destroy you. All across spirituality, from the Fundamental to the Esoteric, many are saying the world is going to be destroyed. It's going to end in 1996, 1998, 2000, 2005, 2013, or the highest bid ... {laughter} ... Get your money down on the company pool here to see when the world will destroy itself.

There are many who are saying that. In so saying, many forget:

(1) The Earth has power of its own. They want egocentrically to think the Earth is no better than they. And therefore, they are exposing their own limitation when they talk of the world destroying itself or purging itself. They are believing the only way the Earth can grow is through pain. The Earth is more sophisticated than that. The Earth knows that it doesn't have to grow through pain. It doesn't have to destroy itself to renew. Many people think they have to destroy themselves to renew. Many think they have to get rid of their wives, their husbands, their children, move, change jobs, go to another part of the world, change their hair color, hairstyle, clothes, car, and everything. People think they have to do that. The Earth knows She doesn't. There's no place for the Earth to move to ... {laughter} ... The Earth learned long ago that it doesn't have to up and move. It doesn't have to turn itself inside out. It doesn't have to destroy itself to renew.

Such thinking exposes limited thought and short horizons. The Earth does not think this way. The Earth is very patient with you, because the Earth knows that no matter what you do to it, it can take care of itself. Now that does not give you license to destroy. Work with the Earth. Cooperate, work together, share the responsibility. You do not have to decide what is best for the Earth by yourself. Tap her energy and listen. The Earth can purge, it can change, it can evolve without destroying itself -- without pain. You can't always do that, but it can. And if you would let yourself tap into it, you could work with that energy -- loving the Earth and letting the Earth love you, changing the Earth and letting the Earth change you.

And that's what the Doomsayers of the late 1980s and before were not counting on. That's what those Doomsayers forgot in their delighted, manipulative panic. Those kind of Doomsayers have been around almost as long as the Earth has been -- maybe a day or so less. ... {laughter} ... And they're going to disappointed, because your world is not going to be destroyed.

(2) Lemuria is re-emerging. We said long ago that Lemuria would once again emerge, but we also said don't get your boats and go out and look for it, because it's not going to show up that way. Lemuria was a most marvelous and wonderful continent in the Pacific Ocean. It was a simple place, a beautiful place where the emphasis was on spirituality. It was not destroyed like Atlantis. It was certainly not destroyed by Atlantis, as some would want to say. It's so arrogant to assume that the only way that something could come to an end is through destruction. Lemuria was not destroyed. Lemuria was done. And that's a major difference that's important to understand.

The continent was a mystical place covered in wonderful clouds. But underneath those clouds was a radiant light that came not only from the sun, though the sun was there, but from the land itself. There was a luminescence that made everything brighter and more vivid. People lived in lovely little villages, and they lived very peacefully. There was no warring, no destructiveness in that way. They were powerful, they were spiritual, they focused their power and their spirituality.

There were Crystal Cities high upon mountains that were accessible only by teleportation. So therefore, there were no gates to guard, because if you could get in, it meant that you teleported yourself. You belonged there. If you couldn't teleport yourself there, you wouldn't get in. Therefore, there was no judgment, no rules, no regulation. It took care of itself.

And the people there grew, and the people there learned. And when Lemuria was done, some realized, "We're done," and moved to higher levels. Others realized, "We're done, but we're going to plant crystals out into the world so as to pass on these knowledges when people are ready to understand so that they, too, might become spiritual and preserve their Earth and their reality until they, too, are done, and then graciously and elegantly leave it."

And as well as putting crystals out there, certain consciousnesses agreed to stay and to plant themselves out into humanity -- to forget what they knew. They went into the Atlantis that was yet to come, for Atlantis as a continent did exist. And they would grow in their forgetfulness and learn, and learn all over again, and eventually come back to what they always knew. They would reawaken the true essence of their spirituality -- the true essence of their relationship with God/Goddess/All That Is.

The Doomsayers even now have not counted on Lemuria. The power of the Goddess energy is re-emerging. The Goddess, though she never left, is returning. There is a future that does not call for destruction, but rather calls for the opening to a new world of love, a world of joy, a world that approaches that of Lemuria - - a world that doesn't have judgment because there's nothing to judge, a world that doesn't have anger because there's nothing to be angry about, a world that doesn't have fighting because there's nothing to fight about. To open to that, to move toward that -- that was not counted on.

And that's why we say that a future was determined. You, coming back from Atlantis, said, "No, we're not going to let it be destroyed this time. Despite what the detractors say, despite what those who want us to be Warriors say, we're going to be Adventurers. We're going to be Adventurers and enjoy this reality, and create it, not run from it, not hide from it, not fear it and try to destroy it. We're going to create it." And in that sense, come alive with that Light as the energy from the Pacific -- the feminine energy, the energy of the Goddess, the energy of the Light -- re-emerges.

And that's what it's about. And that's why it's important that there are power spots, that you can tap into that power, and that you allow yourself to do so. Because as you do so, you can then tap into your own power and the energy that is part of what you are.

Many cannot see it. But then the natives in South America couldn't see Magellan's ships, either. And someone had to say, "Look here. Look like this. Look like that." In many ways what we are doing is offering that alternative, trying to tell you:

"Look, there's love, love that can grow. Love can change reality. Love is all there is. You don't have to suffer. You don't have to be in pain. You don't have to deny yourself."

And you say, "Lazaris, I just can't see it."

But eventually you, too, can stretch your mind to conceptualize it, and once you can conceptualize it, you can create it. And once you can create it, then you can live it. So we are stretching and trying to help you stretch to see what right now lies just beyond your vision, beyond your capacity. Some of you are beginning to glimpse it. We want more of you to glimpse it.

And a way to do that is by establishing intimacy in your life, personally with others, with your world, with your reality, and with the Earth. Call upon the Earth to work with her (or him or it) to love and to receive love and to be loved. And allow the possibility that the Earth can work with you and be loved by you and be changed by your presence, by your thought, by your energy. ...

With love and peace ...

Lazaris on The Bridge of Belief

Blog: Lazaris on The Bridge of Belief

"The Story of Two Bridges"

An excerpt from "The Sacred Journey: You and Your Higher Self" by Lazaris

There are two bridges that you can cross. One is called the Bridge of Faith, and the other is called the Bridge of Belief.

The Bridge of Faith is long and flat. It goes on for what must seem like forever. As you stand at the beginning of the Bridge of Faith, it's like looking down a railroad track in Kansas. It goes on forever until the parallel tracks appear to meet. With the railroad tracks, however, you know they don't really meet. The Bridge of Faith looks the same way, except that eventually the two sides do meet, because the Bridge of Faith goes on to the end of time -- or more precisely, it goes on until it is beyond time. Time and space are illusions which together comprise the fourth dimension of your illusory reality. In outer space, when time and space collapse, when they end, you call it a black hole. This is where all time, all space, all light collapse.

The Bridge of Faith also collapses into a single point in time/space and disappears. There is no end to the Bridge of Faith.

Those involved in traditional spirituality are crossing the Bridge of Faith. To Eastern faiths, the bridge is one they cross between the many lives of karma. For them the traffic is two-way and seldom ending. To the Jewish faith, the Bridge of Faith is the bridge from pain to the Promised Land, from being lost to being found, from being without their King to finding the Messiah. To some of the Christian faith, the Bridge of Faith is short -- it only goes from here to the Second Coming, which could be any day now. And for others it is forever!

The other bridge is called the Bridge of Belief. It is quite different. It is arched very steeply, though it is easy to cross if you know how. The arch is so steep that you cannot see over the crest of the arch until you get there. Once you do get there, it is rumored, then you can see clearly all that lies on the other side. No one who has not crossed the Bridge of Belief, however, can substantiate this claim of clarity. No one can say whether the claims, the rumors, are true or not. Those who have crossed it say it is true, but no one can prove it. They cannot prove it, because what they claimed to have experienced was beyond words, and what they saw was slightly different for each of them. There is no chance for empiricism there. There is no proof!

There is also something very strange about the Bridge of Belief. Once someone begins crossing, it can be an ordeal where one has to be a warrior attempting to conquer the obstacles along the way. However, the crossing also can be an adventure filled with wonder and with exciting encounters. The difference seems to be in the preparation and the desire, the imagination, and the expectancy.

Something else: When someone is crossing, everyone else can watch just like with the Bridge of Faith. However, when they reach that crest over which no one can see, they have a choice: Go on or go back. If they choose to go on, they also disappear out of view. Very strange, this Bridge of Belief.

Those of you who have known, or at least now know, what the New Spirituality, the New Age, is really about, are the ones involved with the Bridge of Belief. You see, those of you crossing the Bridge of Belief and those crossing the Bridge of Faith are really looking for the same thing. You are all looking for God/Goddess/All That Is, by whatever name you use.

What lies beyond the Bridge of Belief? You will have to cross the bridge to fully see, but let us tell you this: Beyond the Bridge of Belief lie Atlantis and Lemuria. Beyond the Bridge of Belief is where you will find your Higher Self and your Soul. Beyond the Bridge of Belief is God/Goddess/All That is.

Nothing that lies beyond this bridge can ever be empirically -- scientifically -- proved. If it could be, it would no longer exist ... beyond the Bridge of Belief! Once you get to the crest, and not before, you will see what we mean. It is beyond words in its wonder, and it is beyond words because language is linear and the reality that is beyond is nonlinear.

Once you reach the crest, and not before, you will change. You will step out of one Set of reality constraints, and you will step into another freer, more powerful, and more responsible Set. Your world will never be the same again.

There is no need for fear. You do not have to abandon anything you already have, but it will never quite be the same once you cross the Bridge.

Some have crossed back, forgetting what they knew, forgetting what they understood. They pretend everything is as before. They even re-create all their old problems, obstacles, and blockages. They gather up all their old raw materials from the choices they used to make to the beliefs they used to have. It is very difficult. Once you have crossed the Bridge of Belief, it is much more difficult to fail than it is to succeed! To fail you have to keep remembering the lie!

For all intents and purposes, they are their same old self. But underneath --- very deep -- they know. They know what lies beyond proof. They know there is a God/Goddess/All That Is! No, they did not see All That Is on the other side of that Bridge, but within each cell of their bodies they knew and still know: "There is a God/Goddess/All That Is who loves me ... and whom I love!"

Your Higher Self exists beyond the Bridge of Belief. You see, we know this, because in your reality, we lie beyond the Bridge of Belief, too.

You must decide on your own whether or not there is a Higher Self. Cross the bridge. ... You are ready. ... Cross the Bridge of Belief.

With love and peace ...

Shifting Paradigms... Another Look

Blog: Shifting Paradigms... Another Look

By Lazaris

All right. All right. Well, well, certainly so. Certainly so, it is a pleasure to be working with you; it is a joy to have this chance to explore with you. As we touch in this moment, our goal is not to provide a complete picture. No. Our goal is to stir ideas and to stimulate thoughts and feelings. Our goal, in this touch, is to tickle something deep within you so as to set something in motion - to set that "something more" inside you in motion.

As we touch in this moment, let us look again at a topic that may seem all too familiar. Let us look again at the shift of paradigm that is taking place within the Great Awakening that unfolds all around you.

Yes, we know. Those words – paradigm shift – are ones with which you are more than familiar. We would suggest that despite their popular use, and at times overuse, you are in the midst of a profound evolution. You are in the midst of a massive paradigm shift that we call the Great Awakening.

We speak of it as a tri-polar energy that is attempting to become a uni-polar force in your universe and in your world. We speak of it as an awakening of the domain of spirituality, the field of play of Earth, and the complexity of human individuality. We speak of it as three powerful energies working together to become one … to become one incredible force that can catapult your world into becoming the New World it is now destined to be.

To many, these words can seem as nothing more than hyperbole. Yet, we would suggest, those who know us also know that we do not speak in hyperbole. These words of the New World can sound as glorious fantasy. Yet there is a New World, and, we would again say, it is now destined to be.

And the agent of change behind this Great Awakening? The engine of change beyond the precipitation of the New World? The shifting paradigm. So let us look again …

The Shifting Paradigm

You are in a massive paradigm shift. And we would suggest here that many do talk of it, and that is because the energy or the essence of that shift is present -- and becoming so much more present -- in your world.

There are many people who have never thought about such things. Suddenly they are having thoughts-feelings – realizations – about this changing and shifting paradigm and about the changing natures of their reality. Some are familiar with the New Age – the New Spirituality; most are not. We would suggest it is indeed an incredible and exciting time, an incredibly exciting time, certainly so.

Predictability … You have been living within a paradigm, the old paradigm, the old fabric of existence as it might well be called, that has been based upon predictability. That elusive predictability has been desperately sought since the Renaissance, so many hundreds of years ago.

Indeed Newton in his discovery of physics was looking desperately for a predictable system, for a mechanism, for a machine, for something of that sort that would explain it all. The hope: If you understood the workings of "the machine," you could understand the whole of the nature of reality. If you could understand the working of "the machine," you could understand the workings of God.

We would suggest that in his desperate and indeed quite determined look he came up with the cause-and-effect theory -- the theory that every effect has its cause, and every effect becomes a cause for the next effect -- a chain-reaction, billiard-ball model of reality, certainly so, machines with cogs and wheels that worked so very precisely.

He felt good and slept well at night (at least for awhile) as he came up with his particular concepts of how the causes and effects of reality worked, of how things happened.

Then there was Descartes. Also searching desperately for some sense of predictability, some sense of solidity, he developed his Cartesian philosophy of "I think, therefore I am." While Newton looked for a mechanism, Descartes looked for an explanation.

Safe and secure … Trying to explain it all, and having it all fit together ever so neatly, he also was looking for "the machine" – the cogs and the wheels – that would make sense of philosophy and that would explain science. If all became predictable, indeed, all would be good and all would be safe. Man could be secure.

A paradigm emerged: Newtonian physics and Cartesian philosophy. Cause-Effect and Upward Causation combined, and the world seemed predictable and it was good, safe, and secure. So they thought; so they said.

Even with Einstein and his theories of relativity that were introduced in the very early part of the 20th century, and Heisenberg coming in 1935 with his concepts of the unpredictable – the unpredictability of the Principles of Uncertainty -- your world has clung desperately to predictability. Your consensus reality still clings desperately to Newtonian physics and to the Cartesian philosophy.

Indeed, the controversy still embroils your scientific community. Even now, so many years later, confronted with the quantum nature of reality and with uncertainty and probability-possibility, people still want to hold out for the mechanical cogs and wheels of Newton and the explanations of Descartes.

But we would suggest that is what is shifting: Newtonian physics is being altered and changed by the discoveries of quantum physics and quantum mechanics. The new physics is rooted upon expectation, a physics based on anticipation; it is based upon what a people believe and upon their attitudes as well as upon the thoughts they are thinking and what feelings they are having. In many ways the new physics is rooted and based upon the decisions and choices that the observer-participants are making.

We would suggest that despite what the spokespersons of traditional science may say, they do know the profound impact and influence of this root and base. We say this because the rigors of your conventional science demand double-blind experimentation. In your world your scientific community demands double-blind experiments so as to eliminate belief and attitude, so as to eliminate thoughts and feelings, so as to eliminate the decisions and choices of the experimenter. In this sensing, it is an attempt to keep the experimenter, who not only is an observer but also a participant, out of the experiment.

And we would suggest here, indeed, if scientists did not already know that expectation and anticipation, belief and attitude, thought and feeling, choice and decision were the raw materials of change – the common denominator of change – they would not be so desperate to eliminate them for experimentation. Keeping them out of there so that everything can remain predictable is indeed the fight, the battle, that goes on.

But we would suggest, it is a losing battle because the new physics and quantum mechanics are now part of your reality. You can no longer retreat. No, the new physics are not replacing classic physics. It is not an either-or world. Rather the new physics are joining the old.

Out of the complexity emerges a new octave. Out of the resonance of the new and the old physics working together as one comes a synergy – a whole that is greater than the sum of its parts.

Likewise, Upward Causation is not being replaced, but it is being influenced, altered, adjusted. Within the New Spirituality emerges a new causation: Downward Causation.

We would suggest that when Upward Causation is joined by Downward Causation and each is allowed to be viable, a complexity and a new resonance emerges. The paradigm shifts to a new level – to a new octave.

Upward and Downward ... The Difference

To cause upwardly is to say this:

"The reason that I am late to work today," says the person, "is because, you see, my alarm clock did not go off on time. And so therefore I overslept. And because I overslept I rushed breakfast, and dropped the plate of eggs upon the floor and had to stop and clean that up. And therefore I was in a real hurry. So when I backed out of the garage, I took out the lawn mower, and had to stop and take care of that and change the tire. And then the traffic ... Because I was so late, I got caught in the traffic, and therefore … and when I got to work I was rushing so much I left my briefcase in the car. And now I have got to ... And that is why I am late for work."

As one event builds upon another, brick by brick, piece by piece, the "jigs" of this jigsaw puzzle are fitted together. This, we would suggest, is what is meant by upward causation. It may seem a silly example, but it is a workable one.

Downward causation works differently.

"For some reason I wanted to be late for work, though I did not admit it at the time. Because of this particular game-play or that particular motivation, I chose to be late for work. Once the effect was in place – once I chose the outcome – I went about creating all kinds of causes. I created oversleeping, spilling the eggs, clobbering the lawn mower, and having to change the tire. I created even more causation as if that were not enough.

"Why did I want to be late for work? Did I want to feel like I am always too rushed? Did I want to feel martyred – unappreciated, misunderstood? Did I want to feel sorry for myself?

"What was I trying to gain with the drama of the morning? Was it self-pity? Was I looking to prove something less than admirable about myself, such as I am always late? Was there a twisted attempt to control because being late caused others to have to wait for me?"

The cause begins at the top and works its way downward. We would suggest, it begins with the effect that goes searching for a cause. In this case the desire, however hidden, to be late for work led all the way back to that one "first brick" or "first piece" of the puzzle. It’s another obvious example, but it makes the point and shows the flow of energy ... downward causation.

The kick ... Now here is the kick, here is the important point: It is not an either-or.

You see -- and this is what gets so very frightening to people in your world who live in a paradigm of either-or -- it is not either-or. It is not as though Newtonian physics is going to be kicked out and replaced by -- elbowed out by -- quantum mechanics. It is not as though Cartesian philosophy is going to be totally abandoned in favor of a different spiritual philosophy that speaks in other ways.

No, it is not about one eliminating the other. It is not about a new billiard ball on the table that is going to smack into the old ones and move them off the table. No, we would suggest, they are going to share the table. The new paradigm is not a paradigm of exclusion; it is a paradigm of inclusion.

The new paradigm will include classic Newtonian physics and quantum physics. In this sensing, it will include the familiar upward causation and the less familiar downward causation.

We say again: The new paradigm is not about exclusion – it’s not about a singular authority. It is about inclusion; it is about working together. It is out of this mix that complexity arises.

You are moving beyond a particular paradigm of either-or into a paradigm of and. Both are true, in that regard. Both can be there. You are moving from a paradigm of the actual into a paradigm of the probable and of the possible.

What does this all mean? We would suggest that the meaning comes with understanding complexity. Simply put, complexity occurs when separate and diverse energies come together to function as one without sacrificing or losing their separateness or diversity.

In this sensing, let us give you an example of the complexity principal. Your human body has a heart, a liver, a pancreas, and a brain, to name a few critical organs. Each of these organs is separate and diverse. Heart cells are uniquely heart cells, distinguishable from any other cells within the body. Brain cells are uniquely brain cells. The function of each organ is also separate and diverse.

Yet they function together as if they were one. And we would suggest, they do not sacrifice or lose any of their uniqueness. In this regard, they retain their individuality.

A heart never functions as a liver, and a liver never becomes a heart. Each is individual with its separate function. Though they work together as if they were one, they continue to be individual and separate.

You see, the key to oneness is not sameness: The key to oneness is complexity.

We would suggest, in this context, sameness could be dangerous because it blurs or eliminates the boundaries of diversity. The danger can be most easily seen when considering the oneness of your body. If that oneness were based on sameness, each organ of your body would strive to become the same. As soon as your heart began functioning as your liver, for example, you would be in trouble – serious trouble. Likewise, if your brain yearned to be the same as your heart or liver, the consequences would be terminal.

The key to oneness is not sameness: It is complexity.

Applying this to the shifting paradigm, we would suggest that the current paradigm seeks predictability in an "uncertain" world; it seeks safety and security through the simplicity of an either-or reality. The new paradigm seeks complexity in an "uncertain" world; it seeks safety and security through the complexity of an "and-both" reality.

The new paradigm is one of increased complexity. It is a paradigm that brings together Newtonian physics, quantum physics, upward causation, and downward causation. The new paradigm brings these separate and diverse concepts together to function as one without losing their diversity.

The two physics will work as one, and the two directions of causation will work as one. Neither replaces the other; they work as if they were one – they work together in coordination and cooperation. Complexity.

Key to Transcendence … the Key to Evolution

"Okay," we hear you thinking. "So the new paradigm is one of increased complexity. So what?"

A prominent scientist of your world won a Nobel Prize for his demonstrations and scientific proofs that whenever an organism steps into the flow of complexity, that organism can be lifted to a new level – to a higher octave – of existence. We would suggest, this does not mean that the organism becomes a better or more efficient organism; it means that such an organism can be lifted – to a whole new level of existence.

Complexity offers the opportunity of transcendence. To be lifted to an entirely new octave of existence is the essence of transcendence.

Put simply, your current paradigm of reality cannot "get you there." However, the shifted paradigm – the paradigm of complexity – can create the lift or the potential transcendence to the New World that is now destined to be.

As your paradigm shifts to a paradigm of increased complexity, you and your reality – you and your world – stepping into the flow of that complexity, can be lifted to a whole new level and a whole new octave of existence. You and your world can be lifted not just to a better past or present but can be lifted to a New World.

Here’s the rub … Many are aware that a New World is coming. Those who speak so enthusiastically about the doom and gloom erroneously assume that the only way to get to that new future is through the destruction of the "world as you know it." They do not understand the shifting paradigm; they do not understand the function of complexity.

However, when you do understand the shift and when you do understand complexity, you can also understand that the key to evolution is not destruction. The key to evolution is complexity.

Rather than gathering canned goods preparing for some New Age Armageddon, we would suggest, people would be better served to develop the skill, the mastery, and the artistry of working with the metaphysics of quantum mechanics and of downward causation. You already are skilled at understanding Newtonian physics and at working with upward causation. Now develop your acumen with quantum mechanics and downward causation.

Do this, as we say, not to replace what you know of classic physics and upward causation but to add to what you know. Use what you know as foundation and base. Upon that foundation add the new skill, mastery, and artistry.

Step into the hope … In this sensing, step into the complexity. In the flow of this complexity comes the Great Awakening. In this flow of complexity comes the new hope for the positive future of dreams and visions. In the flow of this complexity, you and your world take a giant’s step toward being lifted to a new level – a giant’s step toward the New World.

The New World is coming, many would agree. The anticipated means of its arrival vary among the many. There are those looking for the doom and gloom. Sadly, they are almost eager for it and jump at any supposed beginning of it. We would suggest, they look in the wrong direction. The means of their anticipations are not the true means of manifestation.

Again, we would suggest, the key to oneness is not sameness; it is complexity. The key to evolution is not destruction; it is complexity.

There is a New World coming. Step into the complexity. Step into the hope. You shall find it.

We love you. And we close ...

With love -- with love and peace.

Blog: On Reincarnation and Parallel and Overlapping Lifetimes "Other Lives, Other Times"

An Excerpt from an interview originally published in Lazaris’ book Lazaris Interviews, Book II (This book is out of print.)

You know as metaphysicians that your Physical Plane is an illusion. You know as astute, intelligent people -- whether you're metaphysical or not -- that reality is an illusion. Your scientists have demonstrated this so conclusively, so repetitively, so rigidly, that the only way you can pretend otherwise is to deny the truth.

The metaphysicians and the scientists, who are usually at odds with one another, agree totally on this issue: Your reality is a product of thought. Your reality is a product of consciousness. Your reality is an illusion of light. Your reality is an illusion.

Metaphysicians from the beginning of time have said: Time is an illusion. Einstein demonstrated that time is an illusion. Subsequent quantum physicists have more than demonstrated and proved that time is an illusion, that it is a convenience you have created for yourself. All things are simultaneous. Every lifetime you have is occurring now. Every lifetime you have is occurring now.

Now, you have those lifetimes, and you put them on a continuum. You call the left end of this continuum the past, and you call the right end of it the future. All that really means is that you are putting the whole array of lifetimes that are randomly scattered or placed out there -- the entire smorgasbord of lifetimes -- in order. You are putting them in sequence.

Following the analogy of a smorgasbord, when you go to a cafeteria, do you ever notice that while standing at the beginning of the line all the food is there? Even though you can't get to it all at once -- even though you put it on your plate in sequence -it is still all there. And you go down the line, don't you? And of course, what do they put first? The desserts! ... {laughter} ... They put the desserts first. Then they put the salads, boring salads. White lettuce. It's an amazing thing, white lettuce. ... {laughter} ... Then they put all the steamed main courses. Then they put the bread and butter and drinks and things like this. And you go down the line, and you gather a plateful of food. Do you eat the dessert first? Maybe some of you ... {laughter} ... You tend to do it like you're supposed to. You start with the salad. Then you eat the main course. Then you eat your dessert. But it's all there on your tray, and it's all there on the smorgasbord or in the cafeteria line. Whether you are at the beginning, middle, or the end of the line, it's all there at once.

Well, your lifetimes are like that, too, all laid out. They're all there. You choose. "I'm going to do this one, and then I'm going to follow it with this one, and then I'm going to follow it with that one." You give yourself time. Sometimes your next lifetime might be in Atlantis, or it might be in the Middle Ages, or it might be in the 1800s. They're all there. They're all there, and you pick and choose which ones you want to experience when you want to experience them.

The other analogy we use is a movie theater. Particularly your multiple cinemas are conducive to this. When you go to a multiple cinema, sometimes all the movies are playing at the same time. You can go to this one and that one and this one and that one -- any order you want. They're all playing.

So lifetimes are that way. You have those that are called past and present and future lifetimes that are those which are in the same space as you, but in different times, and that's your illusion. You also have those lifetimes that are called parallel lifetimes, which are in the same time, but in a different space. There's a "you" that's alive now that isn't this you, but is a parallel to you. It's not literally a geometric parallel, but it's a "parallel" to you in time, not space. Some of you have two or three parallel lifetimes. A "you" might be living in New York City right now, a best-selling author living on Fifth Avenue with a view of the park or whatever. A parallel life is a split-off of you.

Often split-offs occur in your adolescence because those are the times that you are highly filled with fantasy. Some of you, when you were 13, could have "died" to be a doctor, right? You watched every doctor show. You read every doctor book. A doctor -- that's what you were going to be -- a doctor, a doctor, a doctor, a doctor, a doctor! Then one day something happened, and ... "Doctor? I don't want to be a doctor!" It's as though it disappeared.

Often what has happened is you've split off, and that part of you, who has the same parents and the same upbringing, splits off and lives a totally different life, let's say as a doctor at Columbia University in New York City, or wherever. But if you went to New York, if you looked them up in the roster, you'd never find them, because although they're in the same time, they're in a different space. Those are parallel lifetimes.

Assume that you have a past lifetime where you live and die as a corner grocer in Chicago, 1880 - 1960. You have your current lifetime doing whatever you do, and you were born in Pittsburgh in 1940. For those 20 years, -- from 1940 to 1960 -- the two lifetimes overlap. There are overlapping lifetimes that you have because all the lifetimes are happening at once. Time is an illusion. All lifetimes are simultaneous -- past, present, future, parallel, overlapping. All of them are happening at once.

The most correct way would be to refer to all lifetimes as concurrent lives experienced in varying time/space continua. That is rather bulky, so you call them past, present, future, parallel, or overlapping. This is technically incorrect, but it is efficient and effective. Like time itself, it is an illusion that is technically incorrect, but both efficient and effective.

"Well, why bother about past lifetimes?" Exactly. Why bother? ... {laughter} ... Some of you have no interest in them. Fine, don't bother! The Channel (Jach Pursel) has no particular interest in his past lifetimes. We did a life reading for him one time. We made a cassette tape for him at Peny's request. He listened to it once and said, "Hmmmmm." And that was it. ... {laughter} ...

What about those of you who have had life readings? Should you not have done so? No. If you're interested in lives, then learn about them. What we suggest, and we make this very clear whenever we talk of past lives, is that lifetimes do not cause. They do not cause your current life. They influence. They influence.

We've used the analogy of a sunburn, where if you're sunburned and someone slaps you sharply on the back ... "Oh!" It's going to sting. It's going to make you cry. It's going to make you hate for a moment or two until you can control yourself ... {laughter} ...

If you have no sunburn on the back and someone slaps you sharply, it's going to sting, but not as much. It may annoy you. "Why do they have to be like that!" It may cause some irritation, but not hate.

What caused the pain? Sunburn? No. No. The sunburn did not cause the pain. The slap on the back caused the pain. The sunburn influenced the intensity.

Lifetimes are like sunburn. They can influence each other, but they do not control. They do not cause. Therefore, if you failed in a past lifetime, it does not mean you will fail now. But if you do fail now, if you do create failure now ("now" is the only place you can create anything anyway), the fact that you failed previously may influence what you do -- how you handle it now. For some of you it may influence in such a way that you can handle the failure more smoothly. "No problem. I don't know why, but I know exactly what to do about it." Because of the influence of the past, you are prepared to handle this one easily. Others may feel totally devastated because the previous failure produces an influence of feeling more fearful.

Lifetimes can influence, just as you and a friend can influence each other. But you cannot honestly control each other. What you do does not make them do anything; it does not control them. It can influence them. Lifetimes are like friends.

Do you and your probable selves actualize the same events?

You do not ever meet a parallel lifetime, and you tend not to run into your overlapping lifetimes, because the trauma would be just too disconcerting. No, you don't run into them, and they don't have the same events.

Overlapping lifetimes are lifetimes where the previous one has not quite ended when the next one begins. The end of one overlaps the beginning of another. Sometimes your favorite television shows overlap, or two movies that you want to see on the same night overlap. It is disconcerting, isn't it?

Well, you do sometimes experience the same phenomenon in lifetimes since they are all simultaneous. One begins before the other ends, except with lifetimes you generally aren't aware of the overlap because it would be too confusing. It would be too confusing for a 5-year-old child to encounter or confront the 80-year-old man they are/were/are in a previous lifetime. It would be really disconcerting. They'd lock you up -- either as the old man realizing "I'm a 5-year-old child," or as a 5-year-old child realizing, "I'm an old man!" Either way, you're in trouble!

So therefore, you bury even the intuition or remembrance of such things. Shhhh! Don't even talk about that stuff, you know? Anyway, even if you did have an intuitive "hit," by the time you're six or seven you forget about it anyway, so we would suggest you aren't aware of probable selves like that. No, you don't run into them, and they don't have the same events.

With love and peace,

Blog: Dreamer from Lemuria

There Is Magic in the Telling ... There is an extraordinary recording of Lazaris' called "Discovering the Dreamer from Lemuria" in which Lazaris takes the listener on a brilliantly beautiful meditation to meet The Dreamer and to enlist The Dreamer's help in "dreaming into reality" something the listener wants to create. The article that follows is an excerpt of the part of that tape in which Lazaris paints a lush portrait of the land that was (and is!) Lemuria and of its incredibly beautiful Dreamers. It's a description you may want to read more than once, for "there is magic in the telling," and perhaps more than a bit of memory as well ...

Lemuria is a Land That Imagination Forgot. Many will speak of it as legend or as fantasy or even as mythology. And that is perfectly fine; we have no objection. However, Lemuria was real in the physical fact, in the physical world. But it will never be conclusively proved to have been so. No amount of archaeological or anthropological exploration will ever conclusively prove that Lemuria ever existed. Because, you see, Lemuria existed beyond the Bridge of Belief, beyond the Bridge of Belief in the realm that God and God/Goddess/All That Is exist.

Lemuria was, and Lemuria is. Past tense and present tense. Lemuria is still real. Even now, it is still existing beyond that Bridge, and it is only to be found by the individual, only to be found by you, the individual you who is willing to cross that Bridge. And it is only to be found by those who are brave enough and courageous enough to suspend the illusion, the physical illusion, and to cross over that Bridge of Belief into the real, into the metaphysical realness to find the Land That Imagination Forgot, and in that land to find the Dreamer.

And as you cross the Bridge of Belief, as you imagine yourself lifting out of the logic and reason of the consensus reality, moving beyond time and space and beyond time-space, you can find that land that is and has been forgotten in imagination.

As one were to approach Lemuria by air, it would be located in the Pacific Ocean, far from other land masses, to be sure. And one would note first what seemed to be a cloud or a mist that seemed to hang low over the ocean. And out of that mist would poke mountain peaks that would be black rock ... very dark, very black, like coal almost, almost shiny against the soft mist.

Indeed as one would be flying over it in one's journey beyond the Bridge of Belief, one would perhaps miss it quite entirely, because all that would seem to be there was this innocuous sort of mist, with these mountain peaks that seemed to be sticking through. But as you would descend into that mist toward those black mountain peaks into what seems to be a black-and-white reality against the otherwise blue sea, you would emerge beneath the mist and see before you a most glorious land. It was a huge island, an island so large that people could live and die upon it without ever knowing they were on an island.

The waters would be bluer than any blue that you have ever seen. An aquamarine blue, a midnight blue, a steely blue, a soft turquoise blue -- all kinds of blues, motley shades changing from one hour to another during the day. And along the shore would be the most beautiful sandy beaches. The sand was an almost white sand, almost a glistening sand, almost sparkling. At first you might think it was made of grains of diamond rather than grains of silica.

Once you found yourself squarely planted in this most glorious sand, you would notice that all that surrounds you seems somehow brighter, more brilliant than it ought to be. The greens, greener; the browns, browner; the slate grays of stone, greyer, more brilliant than you would expect, particularly since the entire continent is surrounded in a mist -- not a haze, no, not even a fog, but just a gentle, almost imperceptible, but ever-present mist that keeps the edges soft. Shadows are present, certainly so, but they are soft-edged shadows. The sun is brilliant in the sky, and the blue of the sky is blue, absolutely, but always with a gentle mist that seems to accompany it. Yet everything seems to radiate as if the color and light were coming from the object rather than being reflected upon it.

The continent itself is surrounded by the various beaches, and in the very north and very south also by jagged rock, the land meeting the waters very severely in these areas. On the east and west coasts primarily, the beaches give way to lush forests, that in turn give way to the foothills -- rolling, gentle lands that look almost as though one took a lush green blanket and shook it in the air and then let it fall as it might.

And we would suggest that interior to that, there is a mountain range, a beautiful mountain range that seems to surround the entire continent, to protect the interior. For the interior was known as The Magic Land, The Mystic Land, and those that would go there were only those who were called. Only those who, in their dreams or in their mystical explorations, were entreated to come would venture there. It wasn't out of fear that others would not go. No, it was out of respect. For if it was not for you to go to the interior, then you would not go there. Therefore, it was in the exterior, the periphery, that the vast majority of the population lived.

In the north and the east there were the timberlands. These were beautiful forests, huge, virgin forests for the most part, as well as those forests that were cultivated. The lumberjacks (as you might call them now) would cut the timber to sell as their vocation, but they would do so not in a way to rape the land, to strip it of all the trees. No, they would systematically move from one area to another to prune the forest in a certain sense so that it might grow lusher and richer, so that it might give a better bounty in years to come.

As one moves southward from this timberland, the brilliant trees of timber would give way to the gentle farmland, to the gentle countryside. Here crops were grown and animals were raised and grazed. People gathered together here almost in familial villages -- grandparents and their children, their aunts and uncles and nephews and nieces and first cousins and second cousins. They would all congregate and almost create their own villages, interacting with other villages, but creating their own, quite independent family units. They were beautiful, beautiful farmlands: gentle, rolling hills -- wonderful country lanes that seem to lay like ribbons across the land.

As one moved farther south, the gentle farmlands gave way to mountains, beautiful mountains that would stretch all the way to the sea. And as you would pass through these mountains heading more westward along the southern boundary, you would come to what we call the mining country. This was an area where there was very little flat land, and what there was, was used for crops and raising animals. The main activity was that of mining precious metals -- but also metals that you would now think to be quite innocuous, quite unimportant, that were often used for healing purposes and for mystical exploration. The mining country was a very profitable, very productive area. Indeed, this area would look most as like some wonderful area in Switzerland, with valleys that were lost to everyone, above the clouds in that way, and wonderful mountain streams that seem to bustle their way toward the ocean. It was absolutely breathtakingly beautiful.

As you moved farther north toward the true west, you would find jagged mountains with their sharp, austere peaks giving way to high plateaux, high flatlands upon which the savannahs existed -- wild fields of grass that seemed to stretch forever. Some of this land was cultivated into huge farmlands where grain was grown. It was much like your Midwest and parts of Kansas and Oklahoma -- flatland, but much higher -- high plateaux that led to huge cliffs of a hundred or more feet that would drop drastically, severely to the water's edge.

As one moved farther now into the northern portions -- again along the periphery -- the flatlands would give way again to mountainous ranges that would be uninhabitable: raging rivers, grander than any river you might imagine in your world, dumping billions upon billions of gallons of water into the ocean every second of the day. Huge fjords, as you think of them in the Scandinavian part of your world, where mountain ranges seem to lift straight out of the ocean, leaving finger-like bays or inlets that were raging with torrents of water. This breathtaking, but uninhabitable, area leads all the way around to the timber country where we began, in the northern and eastern parts of Lemuria.

As we say, most people lived and worked in the exterior lands, knowing of the interior, and knowing of the interior mountains that seemed to ring the civilization. And they knew that beyond those mountains was the Magic Land, the place where the mystics would learn to become the mystics they were. Often it would be that children -- or adults for that matter, but often it would be children -- would dream that they should cross the mountains and go to become a Crystal Climber. Sometimes, as they'd relate the dream, the parents would know what it meant and would take them there. Other times the parents would be totally oblivious to the meaning -- curious, but not having any answers to it.

These would become the travelers -- some of them The Witnesses, some of them The Teachers, some The Healers, and some The Dreamers -- the travelers would come from the interior and seek out those whose destiny called them to come to the interior to become Crystal Climbers.

Indeed, at carnivals and festivals and various celebrations of solstices and equinoxes, the Mystics would gather together those that would travel with them. If you were a person so called, either in a dream or meditation, or given the message -by a Teacher, a Healer, a Witness, a Keeper of the Flame, a Keeper of the Truth, or a Dreamer -- indeed you might travel with them for weeks, months, or sometimes even years, as you crossed these interior mountains to the interior land. Sometimes it might take as much as a decade before you would finally reach your destination.

And the reason that you were called a Crystal Climber is because in this interior there were pillars of stone. They were like columns of stone -- natural, of course, not man-made or human-made -- that reached up maybe 100, maybe 200, feet above the lushness of the tropical forest that was the interior.

On top of the pillars of stone there were cities, huge cities, much as you might imagine Shangri-La or Valhalla must have been. Perhaps the first concepts that heaven was a City of Gold, a city of brilliant light, were of Lemuria, for these cities that sat atop the pillars of stone were called Crystal Cities not because they were really made of crystal, but because they glowed and glimmered as though they were.

Those such as yourself who were called would come and sit at the base of these pillars with that teacher or person who brought you, or sit at the base being called on your own. And you would learn to teleport. You would learn to alter your energy, alter your chemistry, alter yourself such as to visually disappear to those who would be sitting around you -- and reappear, rematerialize, in the Crystal City that was at the top.

You see, there was no other way to get there. There were no elevators, no staircases, no bridges, no little indentations that you could laboriously climb. The only way to get to the top was to teleport. No one had to judge anybody else, because if you couldn't make it to the top, if you couldn't teleport yourself, then you didn't belong there. And if indeed you did belong there, you would be able to learn to teleport yourself.

So those who were there were never questioned for their credentials, for the very fact that they were there was credential enough. There were those, in that sensing, who demanded, insisted that they belonged there -- they just knew it, they just knew it -- but if they couldn't get there, then no one argued with them. Indeed their reality reflected the fact that they did not so belong.

In these Crystal Cities, you would learn. Some of the cities were Cities of Healing. Others were Cities of Teaching. Others were Cities of Dreaming. Those who became the inhabitants of these cities, high upon these pillars, learned to do their particular avocation/vocation to fulfill their spiritual destiny.

After the decade of traveling to get there, and perhaps six months or eight months learning to teleport, you might spend ten, 20, or even 30 years in this city, learning and growing and teaching. And in a certain time there would be those who would know that now they must go back into the world to heal and witness, and guard the light, and gain the truth.

And those who Dreamed knew that they had to return to dream. So they would teleport once again, leaving this wonderful Crystal City. Once again materializing on the earth, they would go forth into the exterior, not often to where they came from initially, but to where their work called them. The teachers would go and teach, and the witnesses would go forth and witness. And those that were Guardians of the Light, and Guardians of the Flame, would go forth and perform the functions of their guardianship. And those that were the Dreamers would go forth, and they would Dream.

Now a Dreamer was a very special kind of person, for a Dreamer was a person who could dream other people's dreams. And in Lemuria there were those -- rare, admittedly so -- who could dream dreams for you. If you could find a Dreamer, you could tell them what you wanted them to dream, and they would dream your dreams for you.

They were androgynous people. Often it was difficult to tell whether they were man or woman. They were often very old, yet they seemed to be ageless. They were often very large, yet they seemed to be almost translucent, and therefore very light. Sometimes they were very thin and very fragile and frail, yet they seemed almost made of steel, and therefore very dense. A juxtaposition of opposites, of paradoxes, is often what the Dreamers looked like. Often very old, yet seeming so youthful. Often very young, yet seeming so very old. They were a contradiction, a combination.

And they would be in a place ... often to be found on the other side of a gazebo. And you would go to them when they were ready to receive you, and they would ask you: "What do you want me to dream?"And then you would tell them. They would ask you a series of questions to which you must answer correctly. If you did answer correctly, then they would close their eyes, and seem to settle into a deep and wondrous sleep.

And then they would dream. They would dream your dreams. And they would dream your dreams into reality.

Lemuria is a Land That Imagination Forgot. As you can spark your own imagination, as you can travel on a Quest, crossing the terrain of Lemuria to find a Dreamer, you too can ask The Dreamer to dream your dreams. For dreams exist outside of time and space, and the dreams The Dreamer will dream for you will not manifest in Lemuria, but will manifest in your reality, in your world. The Dreamer can dream your dreams if you will cross the Bridge of Belief and journey the land of Lemuria, the Land That Imagination Forgot ...

With love and peace ...

Blog: Lazaris: A Spark of Love

An interview by Patti Normandy Greenwood

Since 1974, Jach Pursel has channeled Lazaris, a spark of consciousness that has never been physical. Through workshops, private consultations, books and tapes, the message that Lazaris brings has lovingly touched thousands of people all over the planet.

Explaining Lazaris is a lot like trying to explain love. He brings to our world a positive message of hope for our future, but it is the love between the lines that touches the heart. There is a joyful realization that you have found a new friend who loves you unconditionally.

Lazaris comes to help us discover more of who we are, gently empowering us as we expand our awareness to embrace the endless possibilities that are the undiscovered aspects of ourselves.

I count his telephone interview among the special moments of my life.

Patti Greenwood: Lazaris, your beautiful message reminds a lot of us of the Seth Material. Can you tell us anything about multi-dimensional personality called Seth and the current whereabouts of his channel, Jane Roberts?

Lazaris: Yes. All right. Well, we are aware indeed that a lot of what we talk about is very similar to a lot that Seth has spoken of, which was also very similar to the core of metaphysics--the real metaphysics which began with the conception of human consciousness.

First, we have a great deal of admiration for Seth, for the courage and the commitment that he demonstrated so very beautifully so many years ago by beginning his communications, by bringing forth the words both verbally and most particularly in writing so early, so quickly, so beautifully.

Similarly, we have tremendous admiration and respect for Jane for her courage and curiosity as well as her level of commitment and the intellect that was required in order to allow curiosity to be a valid, functioning strength. Long before this was an acceptable process, long before channeling was acknowledged, there they were. And it's a tremendous love and a tremendous respect that we have for both of them.

Seth is very busy, quite clearly so. We were aware of the energy that is Jane and Seth when they were both functioning on the physical plane, and we are still aware of them.

What's happening in the two accounts: First of all, the one who is know as Seth is doing similar work, clearly so--one would expect that--teaching, communicating, sharing concepts, laying forth ideas and understandings of the truth. By the way, part of the reason why a lot of what Seth talked about sound so very similar is because the truth is the truth. You've got real problems when it starts sounding very dissimilar. Then there's difficulty in your world.

Seth is still doing similar work without the use of the channeled body form, clearly so. He is now working with those who have passed on, as you would call it, those who have left the physical plane and are searching. Because, you see, growth does not end with the physical body. One could well say that real growth begins when you decide to discard that physical form. You get rid of the vehicle that you are currently using in all of its density, and then the growth really "revs up," then things really "heat up." Then you really get going, as it were, with the patterns of growth so much more quickly.

You know, we have sometimes used the analogy of when you were in fourth and fifth grade, and you learned how to multiply and divide and your teacher rather persistently kept telling you, "Show your work!" And the reason that the teacher asked you to show your work so frequently--almost so irritatingly--was because she or he wanted not only to know that you got the right answer, but that you know how you got there.

Well, the physical plane is, in its own way, showing your work, because, in a sense, you create your own reality out of the thoughts and feelings that you have, out of the choices and out of the decisions, out of the attitudes and the beliefs.

As we have said, and as Seth has said, belief precedes experience. Belief precedes reality, clearly so. You see, you create it first "in your head." You could "do it in your head," but indeed you show your work. You demonstrate that not only can you create your own reality, but you know how it got there. You create a physical form which is, in a sense, the long division--all that stuff that is below the line that you use to show your work. Once you have demonstrated, as in mathematics, that you know how to multiply and divide, then the teacher says, "OK, you can do it in your head," or "you can use a calculator to figure it all out."

Well, in a similar sense, once you have demonstrated physically that you know what you're doing, that you have learned, at least to an adequate degree, how to create to success, and how to create fun, then the teacher inside of you, the God energy inside of you, says, "OK, you can do it in your head now," and therefore you can leave the physical form behind.

Well, once you leave the physical forms behind, and you can do basic mathematics in your head, then you get into the higher kind of mathematics, to use that analogy a little further. You get into the real tricky, the real intricate, and lots of fun stuff.

Well, similarly, in growth, once you can "do it in your head," once you can create your reality in your head and not have to demonstrate your homework, not have to demonstrate that you know how you got there, then, in that sense, you get into the really exciting and fun stuff that growth is really made of.

Seth is like Seth, in that sense, still the same, perhaps more Seth II than Seth I, but doing the same kind of work: exploring, explaining, helping, reaching, touching people, in that particular regard.

What about Jane? Her work is different, but similarly delightful. She spent her time, of course, in the somnambulistic state, recovering from the agony that she went through in the process of leaving her body. In her indecision as to "should I stay, should I go" she experienced a tremendous amount of agony, as those who are close to her, those who are aware of the situation, know. And those who aren't don't really need to know more details than just that. She went into a somnambulistic state to rest, to catch up in that way, to sort of make up for that lost time that she went through.

Once she completed that she was very alert, very ready. Since she already knew what death was about, it did not frighten her. It did not scare her. It was like stepping across through a veil onto another level, very clearly, with a great deal of consciousness involved, very clearly so. But nonetheless, after the rest, she was up and at it, as it were, reviewing the life, looking at it wondering, "Now what in the world did I do that for?" And, "What in the world was this lifetime all about and how does it fit in with all the others?"

Indeed, she is in communication with Seth, there's no question, but not in a "channeled" form where she has to "get out of the way" so that he can come through her, but now they can sit together. Now they take long walks hand in hand. They take long walks, so to speak--not literally hand in hand perhaps--but they take long walks. They talk. They discuss. Seth offers her ideas. He counters with his. They agree. They disagree is a very joyous and friendly way. They smile a tremendous amount, and they laugh an awful lot. She has a real friendship, something that she missed in that way, the part of the puzzle that for her was missing with her relationship with Seth as long as she had a body and he did not. She missed the friendship.

And now that she does not have a body, either, she can still learn from Seth, which was her greatest and truest joy. She can walk with him and talk with him and the two of them can share as friends, in that way, meeting somewhat eyeball to eyeball. Finally she has what was missing--her friendship with Seth.

She so much wanted to know what he said. So much she wanted to know, "What did he tell people tonight?" Her desire was so strong that some of the information would bleed through for her. She would get a sense of it. "I had a feeling he was talking of that." Etc. Now she knows, and indeed is joyously happy. She is doing fantastically well.

Her plans, of course, are her own and therefore not to be fully shared, but let us suggest that her plans are obviously to grow, to move forward, not to return to physical form, but rather to continue her growth on other levels and to continue a friendship which is deepening as the emotional content of her relationship with Seth has now deepened and broadened.

Once, when she was alive she realized, "I never want to let go of this." Now that she's no longer in physical form and perhaps is more alive than ever, she knows, very clearly, "I never want to let go of this."

Therefore, the two of them are quite content, quite happy, each doing their own work. She's doing a lot of writing on her own. She cherishes those "times" (as you call them in your physical world) that they can be together. They both love "the time" they have together, walking in the gardens, walking by the riverbank, and sitting and arguing philosophical points. They both appreciate the wonderful friendship of learning, and that emotional depth of learning that so much they both sought with one another as aspects, as they sense themselves of one another.

Therefore, that's what's going on with Jane as best we can tell you at this point, and as best we're, in a sense, permitted to tell you at this point.

Patti: Thank you very much.

Lazaris: Certainly so. Well, we suggest that each person does create their own reality, so each person has to answer that for themselves. If, for example, you, Patti, were to get a double-barreled shotgun and go tromping through the woods hunting deer, it would be quite an interesting and even funny sight, but it also would also not work with your consciousness, because you would feel like it's very wrong--whereas someone else with clear or full consciousness could go deer hunting and, for them, it would be fine. Out point; Some say, "Well, it's consciousness, and therefore I don't want to eat it or in any way disrupt its pattern of life." The problem: Everything is consciousness. Every plant is consciousness. Every rock is consciousness, clearly so.

Therefore, follow your beliefs, but don't judge others for theirs. Also, don't become dogmatic or rigid even in your beliefs. As you refuse to eat meat because it is a consciousness, what do you think the carrot is that you just ate, or the rice is that you plan to eat later? Everything has consciousness. If you are not going to eat things with consciousness, there's nothing left. What are you going to do? Breathe the air? That's consciousness too!

As you breath, you're converting oxygen, using it in the body, and expelling what? Carbon dioxide! You are disturbing the pattern of life. Hold your breath, don't eat anything, and, by the way, don't move, because you're stepping on consciousness. Therefore, suspend yourself, elevate, without breathing, without eating, if indeed you don't want to disrupt consciousness. Maybe consciousness is intended to be disrupted. Maybe.

An answer: There is the Mineral Kingdom, and its goal is ultimately to become a plant. It may not be consciously sitting around as a rock thinking, "I wish I were a philodendron," but on a spiritual level, it knows it can grow, it can become, and it will become, a higher form which, to it, is a plant. The Mineral Kingdom is stationary, seeking vertical growth. The Plant Kingdom is vertical growth and represents the next level or plane of evolution for the mineral in its kingdom. The Plant Kingdom, with its vertical growth, seeks to move into the Animal Kingdom, with its vertical and horizontal movement.

You see, a rock doesn't seem to move, although it is growing. A plant moves vertically. An animal moves vertically and horizontally.

The highest stage of evolution, as far as can be figured out from the Mineral, from the Plant, and from the Animal Kingdom, is that of the Human Kingdom. That is the most "godlike" kingdom that it knows, because it can move vertically, horizontally, and it can also move in the third dimension with depth! Depth means with reason or the ability to reason.

The rock cannot move, whereas the plant can move vertically out of instinct following its growth pattern. A plant doesn't think, "Let's see, should I grow towards the sun or not? Should I drop my roots down to the water level, or not?" It happens.

An animal responds. Animals do think rudimentarily, but mostly they respond to instinct, in their two-dimensional movement. No movement. One-dimensional movement. Two-dimensional movement.

Now you, as human beings, have three-dimensional movement where you can move vertically, you can move horizontally, and you can also move with depth, with richness, with meaning, with understanding, with reason, with wisdom. To the minerals, plants, and animals, you are "the god level."

Your goal as human beings is to evolve to a higher form that does not have a name, that can move in many directions simultaneously, that can move horizontally, that can move vertically, that can move with depth and can move outside of time/space (the fourth dimension). You're moving on that evolutionary ladder as well.

Now, let us ask you this, Patti. If indeed someone came along and said, "All right, Patti, what you can do to move to the next level is to be willing to be of service. Would you be willing to be of service to God/Goddess/All that Is if you knew it would bring you closer to being God/Goddess/All That Is?" How many seconds--how many nanoseconds--would it take you to say, "Yes!"? "Yes! Absolutely! When? Tell me, right now!" Would you allow your pattern of life to be disrupted in service to God/Goddess/All That Is? Certainly!

Approach food in a similar capacity. As you approach it with respect, as you approach it with love, as you let the food know that by its sacrifice it can contribute to your growth, it can contribute to your becoming more of who you are, then the food, just as you, says, "When? Now! Take me! I'm willing!" Because its goal is to grow.

If you approach food in a nonchalant way, if you approach vegetables or meat (or any food) in a callous, nonchalant way, we suggest: Yes, that is hurtful. That is a disregard for consciousness. But if whatever food you eat, you regard with respect, and it is within your personal belief system, it is fine. Eat out of love, not guilt. Eat with gratitude, not guilt.

You would have difficulty going out shooting an animal and feeling love and gratitude. Therefore, Patti, don't do it. But you could go out and pick flowers, and you could do it with love and gratitude, and therefore it's a wonderful thing to do.

So go pick flowers and let yourself create bouquets and beauty around you. But understand that with picking flowers as with shooting a deer, you have altered that state of consciousness. If you do it with love and gratitude, if you understand what you're doing, and if you are willing to grow from the experience, then it's fine. The mineral, plant, or animal is willing to allow itself to serve you, and in its way, become more godlike.

We don't encourage flagrant activities. We encourage each person to examine their own beliefs, their own attitudes, their own thoughts and feelings and thus ultimately make their own choices and decisions.

Patti: Thank you very much, Lazaris.

Lazaris: Certainly.

Patti: Many people who've been on the spiritual path for some time feel they get stuck or hit a plateau and don't know what to do next to expand their awareness to get closer to God/Goddess/All that Is.

Lazaris: Yes.

Patti: Can you give guidance in that area?

Lazaris: Certainly so. There are several plateau that people can get stuck upon. One is called inertia--negative inertia. Standing still.

Everyone experiences; many get stuck in inertia. You've grown. You've done this; you've done that. You've done it all. Inertia is produced by a reluctance, on a minimal level to the maximum lever, to think and to feel. It is a refusal to think and feel.

What happens is that people get involved in their growth, and they learn technique, and they use technique. The techniques work--especially the valid ones. Life changes.

Their life changes, and it seems too easy. It seems like it's happening too fast. It seems almost unfair. It seems almost as though they have an advantage, a "handicapped" advantage here that they shouldn't have.

Issues of deservability perhaps enter in here as well, but the point is that people stop thinking. They stop feeling, and they start operating out of rote. They operate by following the ritual, so to speak, rather than by thinking about what they're doing. They do their daily meditation. They do their daily programming. "Oh, it's time to meditate. It's time to program. It's time to touch my crystal. It's's's time." They get stuck.

They do the daily routine in such a way that that's all they're doing. They're not thinking about why they're doing it or what they're doing, and they're not feeling it. With no more thought and no more feeling, you get stuck in inertia.

If that's the problem you have, then the answer is: start thinking, start feeling. Remember why you're doing what you're doing. Start feeling the power and the beauty of your metaphysics, not just the utilitarian necessity of it.

A second plateau that may be reached is the plateau of deserving. People reach a certain saturation point: "Well, OK, maybe I deserve, and maybe I deserve that...I'm not quite sure...I don't believe that, but I'm going to take you at your word...we'll just suppose it for awhile." At the point of saturation, like a sponge, they say, "Uh-uh, that's it. Uh-uh. I may have deserved that, but I don't deserve any more." And therefore, they reach that particular point where they just do not feel they deserve more growth, not yet, not yet. And therefore, they plateau themselves.

If this is your problem, the answer, almost seeming too obvious, is to stop working on the forward progression of your growth, and start working on the depth. You can move vertically. You can add more height to your metaphysical knowledge--one more body class, workshop, technique. You can move horizontally: Apply your metaphysics first to the tangibles in your life, then widen to the tangibles in other people's lives, and even widen to the intangibles of growth. You can add width--move horizontally.

But if you don't add to the depth, that dimension that human consciousness has, that the Human Kingdom has, that the lower kingdoms don't have--if you don't add the depth, the richness, the value, the beauty, the deserving, then ultimately you'll plateau. Even additional height and width won't help. One more book, one more seminar, one more technique, one more meditation. "I can't stand it."

The third plateau--the first cousin of deserving--is guilt. "Life is going too well. It's just to good." So many times people will learn how to use their metaphysics, they'll learn the technique, and it will work. And they surprise themselves. "Hey! This stuff really works." And then they get scared. They feel almost like a criminal: "I don't have a right to do this. Who am I?" And therefore: "I'm doing something wrong, and I'm feeling guilty, like a little kid with a hand in the cookie jar. I've got a leg up. I've got an advantage, and I feel guilty."

The answer to guilt is laughter and joy. Start giving both to feel and to generate laughter and joy! The answer to guilt is to give, to start giving laughter and joy to others, to start being of service--not to be a martyr, not to be used, not to be taken advantage of, no, not at all. Giving and being a martyr are quite different things. If you will give laughter and joy, you will move off this plateau.

The fourth plateau: impatience. Sometimes people create plateaus simply to learn how to be patient. The answer is similar; go deeper. If you're stuck, if you don't seem to be progressing, then review. Review what you've learned. Go back over. Read those notes you took so many years ago when you said, "Boy, am I really going to study this stuff!" But they end up putting it on the shelf just to let it collect dust. Pull out some of those old notebooks. Listen to some of those old tapes that you were going to pore over when you first purchased them. Go back and review to give yourself that chance to catch your breath, so to speak, to deepen your growth.

Fifth plateau: Needing to slow down and absorb. The goal isn't to cross the finish line first. The goal is to enjoy the race, and therefore, sometimes when you you're getting the finish line in sight--"I've got to cross it! I've got to finish! I've got to grow!"--you stop yourself to say, "No. It's not a contest. It's a way of life, and therefore I don't need to `race' to finish, to cross the finish line. I need to stop now and stand still and let all that I've covered catch up with me. Then I'll elegantly `walk' across the finish line."

Sixth: Some plateau because their Success Cube is just too small. They need to stretch it before they can or will allow themselves to proceed.

Finally, there is the image plateau. The image they hold of who they think they are is not big enough to hold who they really are. It's like this: "I have this container yes? It's an 8-oz. glass, and I'm trying to put 10-oz of water in it. I'm going to have the time of my life, because no matter how much I try, an 8-oz glass is going to hold only 8 ounces of water, and therefore, I've got to get a bigger glass if I want to put more water in it." Similarly, you need to stretch or change your image so it can hold more of who you really are. You will sit on a plateau until you stretch.

Therefore, seven reasons that people get caught in plateaus. Ask yourself--even though our description are very brief in many cases--but as you hear the words, ask: Is it inertia? Is it deserving? Perhaps guilt? Is it impatience that you're trying to overcome? Could it be that your plateau is just a time for you to stop and to absorb and let yourself appreciate and feel the gratitude? Could it possibly be that your Success Cube is too small, that the height, width and depth of what you believe isn't big enough for you? Or is it such that the image that you hold of yourself is just too small?

You will resonate to your plateau. Then look deeper and find the answer and respond. Become aware and then act on that awareness. As you recognize it, as you acknowledge it, as you forgive yourself for the plateau and then change the beliefs, the attitudes, the thoughts, the feelings, the choices, and the decisions around whatever you've discovered, then you can get moving again.

And with that, Patty, we very much have enjoyed talking with you. We very much have enjoyed the questions that you've asked, and we look forward to talking with you again some time in the future.

Patti: Thank you, Lazaris. It's been a thrill for me.

Lazaris: Well, thank you, and with that we will close, my dear, with love and peace. Good-bye now...

Patti: Good-bye...

Blog: Inner Peace, Part 2

By Lazaris

An excerpt from the personal growth recording, Inner Peace by Lazaris:

Note: In Part I, Lazaris discussed the beauty and necessity of achieving inner peace, and the "blockbuster" emotions -- anger, hurt, self-pity and fear -- which prevent our achieving it. In this part, he turns to the "bugaboo" emotions, the ones we overlook or don't understand, and explores how to work with them and what to put in their place to create the inner peace we want.

The Bugaboo Emotions

We want to move on now and look at those "bugaboo" emotions - the subtle, yet damaging and even destructive bugaboos that you deal with.

What is anxiety? Anxiety is a combination of any one of four things. First of all, anxiety is unidentified anger, hurt, self-pity, or fear. When you feel any one of those blockbusters, but refuse to identify it as such, then it's anxiety.

The second thing that anxiety is, is expected error. You expect to make a mistake; you expect to do it wrong. It is also anticipated rejection or humiliation. And finally it is misplaced trust.

Now, you know you should trust yourself. But that has been watered down to the point that when in doubt, and not knowing what to say, you say, "Oh, you just need to trust yourself more. I'm sure that will fix everything." Basically, it's just a way of saying, "I don't have the foggiest idea of what's going on. And since I never admit failure, I'm going to tell you to trust yourself." So it has become a throwaway term, a throwaway concept.

There are four conditions which must be met in order to be a potentially trusting situation. If you try to trust yourself when it's not a trust situation, you're going to feel anxiety. To be a trust situation there must be a positive and a negative eventuality. Secondly, that positive and negative has to be decided sometime in the future. The third condition, and the most critical, is that the potential harm from the negative that may result has to be more harmful than the potential benefit will be beneficial. And the fourth condition is that you have to honestly expect the positive.

Similarly, worry is four distinctive things. One: It is anticipated anger. Guilt is anger that you feel you do not have a right to have. Depression is anger that you think you're going to get in trouble for. Worry is anger that you anticipate.

The second quality of worry is the obligatory worry you have as a way to prove that you are not taking your life for granted. "I'm so worried that things will go wrong. I'm so worried that things will screw up. It's my way of showing God/Goddess/All That Is that I care." You don't want to look cocky or arrogant. You don't want to look like you're taking it for granted and like you expect to create your own reality. When you worry in this way, you give a very conflicting message to your Unconscious Mind, which reads literally what you feel. Therefore, all of your programming and super-duper techniques go spiralling down the tube. You program with the belief and attitude that it's going to work, and then you worry, which says, "I don't think it's going to." And then you wonder what your reality is going to be like.

The third component of worry is a lack of deservability. "I don't deserve the reality I have. To compensate, I'll worry." The perspective here is that God/Goddess/All That Is loves you. Your Higher Self loves you. Your Soul loves you. But you don't. The arrogance is that you know better: "They're fools to love me. I know better. I'm not lovable. I refuse to love myself." You have a certain obligation to love yourself. You can't keep playing the game that you don't in order to manipulate them into doing something for you. ...

Finally, worry is a fear of losing control in the unknown. ... So, worry is any one, or a combination, of those factors, and is distinctive from anxiety.

Confusion isn't really an emotion. There are also four things that confusion is:

First of all, confusion is overmagnified emotion. It is emotion that is so large you can't identify it, like looking at a drop of water under a high-powered microscope. "Oh, my God, what's that?" It can also be a whole number of emotions that you're feeling, and therefore you are truly overwhelmed by the size and the magnitude.

Confusion also may be a denial of feeling. Those who don't want to feel or ever admit having a feeling will finally agree: "Okay, I'm confused."

Thirdly, confusion is the "innocent face" of victimhood and martyrhood. It's that innocent mask of: "I'm being hurtful? Surely you jest." It's the confusion that comes in there when you've been caught.

Confusion is also a refusal to be real, and a steadfast stubbornness to be shallow, to cling to the past.

Doubt is one of the most destructive of the bugaboo emotions. Doubt is a lack of trust as opposed to misplaced trust. When you should trust yourself but can't, that's doubt. Where you attempt to trust yourself when you should not trust, that's anxiety. They're quite different feelings, and it's important to know that distinction.

Secondly, doubt is supporting the negative ego. In a reality where you know you create it, where you have dominion, where you are the creator of all things through your thought, to doubt yourself is to support the negative ego. Doubt is one of its greatest crowbars.

Thirdly, and perhaps most strangely, doubt is domination. Doubt produces the sense that "I must manipulate in order to create my reality. I must have power to control other people. I must get God/Goddess/All That Is to take care of me through weakness, supporting my negative ego in its contentions, living in a world that is scary. I must know all the contingencies before I dare step out into the world. I must take, and I must blame." Doubt supports every one of the contingencies of domination, and none of the contingencies of dominion. There is no sense of creating reality as a power, an ability. Doubt is the desire to dominate without really saying so.

Finally, doubt is an attempt not to be responsible. We stress that because there is no way you cannot be responsible. You lie to yourself. "I avoided responsibility." Where? You postponed responsibility. You can't avoid responsibility.

So these are the four bugaboos. When you're not sure whether it's anxiety, confusion, or doubt that's going on with you, the first thing to do is to see if you can delineate. Also, try to identify if it is a blockbuster rather than a bugaboo that's going on. If it is a major blockbuster, then move it to that level and deal with it. If it's not, then look at the payoffs. We'll give you a running start on that one.

The Tonics

There are four critical payoffs that are going to be operative, plus you may add for spice a few of your own: One is going to be for the purposes of self-pity, the part of you that wants to feel sorry for yourself and wants to use that as a manipulation. Another is clearly going to be the part that wants to dominate, that wants to opt for domination rather than dominion. Thirdly, the part that wants to convince you that you don't deserve to be happy, that you don't deserve the very best. Finally, the part of you that wants to prove that metaphysics doesn't work, that you don't really create your own reality. You can use the truth I create my own reality to create a reality that looks ostensibly like you have nothing to do with it, that it is all "happening to you."

If you look at these payoffs and see what you're really doing here, then you can release these bugaboos and replace them.

For anxiety, the key tonic is dominion. If you're feeling anxiety to the point where you're just so anxious you can't possibly sort out whether it is an unidentified emotion or whether you're trusting at the wrong time, then the tonic is dominion. If you will feed yourself dominion, absorb it into your system, that will stop anxiety. Then you can sort out what specifically is producing it, and you can handle it.

Worry also has an overall tonic, and it is gratitude. If you will start feeling grateful for what you have created and what you have been given, the worry will stop like a rainstorm. It will stop and a clearing will occur for long enough for you to grab hold and to get back on top of yourself.

To the specific areas ...

Worry that is anticipated anger: Your anger is like a reservoir and what you're doing is oozing out anger. You don't want the flood gates of anger to open up and destroy your reality, so you siphon it off through worry. The way to handle this particular activity is to bring the anger into the current time. Express it through one of the means, and you're done.

If it is obligatory worry: The key here is that what you're really trying to do is show that you are grateful. Why not just feel grateful instead?

To the extent that your worrying is tied in to your lack of deservability, we suggest you opt for willingness. "Look, it doesn't matter whether I deserve to have this or not. I'm WILLING to have it. I'm WILLING to create it." Allow yourself to move in that direction. Once you start generating from that position, what happens is that you start feeling deserving. The other way is to ask and find out what you have done that is so unforgivable. That's what your lack of deserving comes from. That will eradicate the lack of deservability, and thus eliminate the need for worry.

Finally, if your worry is connected to that sense of the unknown, surrender. Surrender to your own Higher Consciousness and to God/Goddess/All That Is. "I don't know how to control the situation." Don't try. Surrender and trust, and there won't be worry.

Confusion: The overall tonic is gaining perspective. Back off to get a better view of it. There's no problem too big to run from. Although you face your fears by going toward them, back away from them to gain perspective. If it is the magnification, take each emotion you feel and handle it separately. If it's a matter of refusing to feel, then start feeling anything. Some people are so numb to any emotion. Those people who are so totally numb will eventually do something to make themselves feel -- either being so hurtful to other people that they will finally feel what they are doing, or hurt themselves through excruciating situations because "at least I'm feeling now."

If you are dealing with numbness as a mask for self-pity, switch it to the blockbuster it is and start dealing with it. To the extent that it is wanting to remain shallow, confront that. This is where the mirror technique can work very clearly. Sit down in front of the mirror and look at the person there. Spend about five minutes really studying that face as though you want to remember it for a lifetime. Then talk to that person about how shallow and unreal, how totally connected to the past they are. Start feeling what that feels like. That will burst you through it. Maybe you won't be the deepest, most feeling person on the planet, but you will begin. And there won't be any need to use confusion for the purpose of remaining shallow.

With doubt, develop trust. The tonic to doubt is self-confidence. As you are doubting yourself, develop that self-confidence and the doubt will be gone.

If the doubt is there to support the ego, then admit it. Face the truth. Bust that negative ego. See where it really wants to take you. See that it is your enemy and that it is attempting to destroy you. Your negative ego is not your friend. We say that quite frequently.

To the extent that doubt is your desire to dominate, move toward dominion. Admit the truth, recognize it, acknowledge it, forgive yourself for holding so desperately to domination, and change it.

To the extent that doubt is an attempt not to be responsible, perhaps just let yourself in on how you plan to do that. Lay out your strategy for never being responsible. Then maybe you'll realize you can't. You're going to be responsible, so why not do it consciously? Why not do it powerfully? That can reduce and eliminate doubt.

Work primarily with dominion and gratitude. Put yourself in perspective. Take yourself a little more lightly and feel that confidence within yourself. These are the four major tonics to these particular bugaboos. It'll work.

It's not enough to release, however. You have to replace.

You can dig out all your anxiety, and all your worry or doubt, and all your confusion, but if you don't put anything in its place, then it's going to fill back in with exactly what was there before.

So, what you do fill it in with? You fill it in with love, trust, expectancy, and enthusiasm.

You hear these things a lot: "Your problem is you don't love yourself enough. Love yourself more." You read books: how to, how to, how to. There's always a chapter on self-love. And you read it, and what it basically says is: "People don't love themselves enough. To be happy they should love themselves more. So do that."

End of chapter. Next chapter. You look back for the pages that must have stuck together. No one really bothers to tell you how to feel self-love. They'll tell you beautiful phrases ...

We are talking about loving yourself, but also about loving others. This is part of what you need to fill in to have that inner peace.

Basically, love is a function. It is something you learn how to do. At one time you did automatically do it. But you talked yourself out of it. To support a negative ego, you convinced yourself that humanity was unloving. Now it's time for humanity as a whole to start realizing, "Hey, we can love." But you need to know how. There are ways, things to do, functions.

Those functions specifically are: To give. To respond, to be responsible. To respect. To know. To have humility. Now humility doesn't mean groveling around on your hands and knees. Humility is the sense that each moment is brand new, that just because things went that way before, they don't have to go that way again. "I am open and willing to have each moment be brand new." The sixth element of love is courage, and the seventh is to care for someone or something.

We say giving, but to what end? It's not giving just to give. It's giving in order to provide something. Here again, there are seven particular things that can be provided:

Giving to produce security, pleasure, honesty, vulnerability and trust. Giving in order to produce caring and intimacy. Giving in order to reduce the fear of loss. Giving with these specific purposes in mind is a loving act.

And if you are responsible toward yourself and another in order to give security, pleasure and so on -- if you respect that person so as to produce security, pleasure, trust -- if you have that sense of humility to produce these qualities and care so as to produce these seven qualities, then that is how to be loving. That is the first factor: In order to have that inner peace, you need to love yourself and others.

You need to trust. It's not just a hit-or-miss kind of thing. Trust is based upon the limited selves: your physicalness, your mentalness, your emotionalness, and your psychicness. If you look at it that way, you don't have to rely upon a psychic flash that it's all going to work out. Look to all of the trust: what your body, your intellect, your feelings and your intuition say. Put them all together, and out of that combination comes an exponential that is the basis of trust. You can practice trusting yourself. What does your mind say? What does your body say? What does your psyche say? You can try it on inconsequential situations. Practice on what's going to come in the mail today, on what a friend will be wearing for dinner. What happens here is that your Higher Consciousness will become involved when you start working with it. You see, your Higher Consciousness sort of sits up there and looks down at you: "How are they doing? Oh, they're doing all right. They're kind of standing still. They're staying out of trouble." The Higher Consciousness will interfere to clear up that trust, but you've got to start using it.

Californians are going to have more trouble with this than other people because they have been so brainwashed in the hype of expectancy. "Expect a miracle" is a wonderful concept. But when it's on every bumper sticker, it has no meaning any longer. It's become so much a part of the PR that you haven't really thought about what it really means to expect something. Often what it means is a bravado, a bullying: "If I say it loud enough, somebody will hear it and give it to me." Often it is used to calm people.

A lot of you have been taught not to expect: "Don't expect it to work out, because you might be disappointed." So, what you do is lower your expectations. In truth, you either diminish your expectations by some childhood experience, or you are so hyped-up in it that it has lost its meaning.

Expectancy is a marvelously wonderful thing, and we suggest always expect the best. Then it is more likely to happen. If perchance it does not, you are in a much stronger place to handle your disappointment.

Expectancy alone isn't going to produce it. But having high expectations is going to make it more likely to happen, and it prolongs your joy. Let yourself feel that sense of honest expectation -- not the hype and not the denial -- but the sense of honest expectation.

With the love, trust and expectancy, you're on the way to enthusiasm. Enthusiasm is, first of all, a happiness, feeling happy, which is being harmonious with the now. It is being harmonious with the way your reality is right now. That's a state of being. Enthusiasm involves that state of being, but also involves a state of doing. There must be action associated with this happiness for it to become enthusiasm.

It combines a sense of happiness along with humility. Again, humility is that sense that each moment can be brand new.

The third component is hope. Hope is also very much confused: "Cross your fingers, take a deep breath, and hope to God it works out." Hope as some kind of blind faith. We're not talking about that. What we mean by hope is that you look at your current reality, and in it you see the gems of the future. You see the possibilities of what can be out of what you are right now. That's what hope really is.

You combine happiness, humility, and hope, and then act upon it. Do something with it. That's enthusiasm. That's what true enthusiasm is about. ...

As you will allow yourself to feel the love for yourself and others, trust yourself and those significant others, have high expectation and grand enthusiasm, you will know inner peace. You will feel that sense of inner peace. It is a quiet solidness in the core that radiates out into great activity, great involvement, great productivity. An interesting factor here is that these four components that are necessary to replace the bugaboos are the most powerful motivators you have. As metaphysicians, they are the four most powerful tools you have. It is curious here that each of the four has -- by your ego individually and by the collective unconscious societally -- been watered down. Allow yourself to see that, and understand that, and start developing them for yourself.

We've talked about trust so many times as being an important key, an important tool. As spiritual beings, it is there as one of the most important tools you've got to establish dominion.

Really love in a way that you can identify, and not just identify as a warm, toasty feeling. And as we talk together then, to share, to grow, to laugh together, to be a friend with you, you can open up to being loved as well as loving.

When you open up and starting loving yourself enough, then you will open up and let us love you. Love is the most powerful tool, but you have to do it and be it, and let it be done to you to have its full impact. It's not just a hug you squeeze hard with. It's really opening and letting these things happen.

Let yourself explore your bugaboos. Work with them to open that door to inner peace. Once you've opened that door and feel the confidence of knowing that you can continuously reduce these bugaboos to non-existence, filling the void and having that inner peace, you can be that spark that you want to be. You can be that inspiration that you are.

With love and peace ...

Blog: Inner Peace, Part 1

By Lazaris

An excerpt from the personal growth recording, Inner Peace by Lazaris:

Today we want to work with some of the "bugaboo" emotions that you have, bugaboo emotions that stand in the way of your having inner peace. We want to work with anxiety, with worry, and with confusion and doubt.

Admittedly, these are not the only things that are standing in the way of inner peace. The blockbuster emotions you are familiar with already -- unexpressed anger and hurt, self-pity and fear. We will be talking about those feelings as well, but much more briefly. We want to focus on these bugaboos because most of you by now have means to handle those blockbusters of anger, hurt, self-pity, etc. It is the smaller emotions, these more subtle emotions, that still stand in the way of your acquiring that sense of inner peace that you are seeking.

What is rather interesting about these emotions, and common to all of them, is that you all feel them from time to time, but you don't really know what they are. You can talk about them, but can you really define what it is to be anxious about something? And how is that different from being in doubt, confusion, or worry? You can look in a dictionary and find a string of words that you call a definition. But do you really know what those feelings are?

These emotions usually get what we call the "universal metaphysical definition." Anxiety as defined by the universal metaphysical definition is: "Well, you know, anxiety? Well, that's, you know, well, you know, it's when you feel anxious, you know?" The other terms, unfortunately, fall by the same sort of definition.

Without an understanding of what these bugaboo emotions are, an understanding of their subtlety -- without being able to distinguish one from another -- it's very difficult to recognize what's going on with you. It makes it even more difficult to acknowledge what's happening with you, foolhardy even to think of forgiving yourself, and totally impossible to permanently change. At best, you can handle this or that anxiety or worry or confusion or doubt. Usually it's a temporal feeling: The situation over which you have been feeling this emotion goes by. The feeling disappears and you think, "Aha, I've handled my anxiety," only to find it coming up again. There's no security there, no sense that "I am on top of anxiety so that should it arise tomorrow, I have something I can do. I can stop that feeling, and get back to the feelings I want to have." Therefore, though a particular situation that produces one of these bugaboos may come and go, you are constantly plagued with it.

Being so plagued, you end up striving for, reaching for, even grasping for that inner peace only to find it slipping through your fingers once again. You would think perhaps you can get through life without having inner peace. There's no perhaps about it. Of course you can. You've done it hundred and hundreds of times already. So it's not an issue of whether you can survive or not, for clearly you can. But it is an issue of the quality of that survival, and the quality of your spiritual development whereby it becomes important to develop that inner peace.

The Benefits of Inner Peace

There are very obvious reasons to develop that peace. First of all, it is more fun to live your life free from these bugaboos, in a state of inner peace. It is much easier to learn to have fun. The road is much smoother toward learning to consciously create your success if you can do so from a state of inner peace. Further, the purposes for being physical in this lifetime -- your focuses, the things you came to do and wanted to learn -- can be learned so much more effectively if they are experienced and explored in a state of inner peace. Finally, it feels very good.

There are also less obvious, but no less important reasons, to strive for and achieve inner peace. The first of these reasons is that your outer world is a reflection, a symbolic reflection, of your inner reality. Is it any real surprise that at a time of opportunity with tremendous expansion, a time when you are about to take off and really get that sense of soaring and being in motion -- that the terrorism of your own martyrhood should hijack you? You see, that outer world is a symbolic expression of the inner reality. And as the inner reality acquires a sense of inner peace, so you do have impact upon the outer peace.

Now, for one of you to establish inner peace may not bring about worldwide peace, but at least it is contributing. And those of you wanting so much to make some sort of contribution, wanting to have some sort of impact upon your world, wanting to make some difference in the future, one of the most valuable ways is through establishing inner peace. For as that world reflects upon you, so you reflect upon it. There's not much notoriety in it, but we would suggest that there is a tremendous amount of impact that each of you individually and as a group can have on an outer world that sometimes scares you so much.

A second reason to develop inner peace ... There is a song that has a marvelous line: "Love is like a flower, and you its only seed." That's a marvelous concept to consider. We have talked of you as sparks and seeds of spirituality. Indeed, that which fuels that spark and germinates that seed is inner peace. To be that spark that you so much want to be -- to be that seed of spirituality -- inner peace is a vital part of that quest.

Thirdly, it is an inspiration. Your material success can be a source of inspiration for others to be materially successful, but it is your feeling reality, more than your material reality, that inspires spiritually. That is not to say that you should not have material success. Have all that you want, and be as inspirational as you want for others to acquire similarly in that illusory physical plane. But being a spark, inspiring other people to the realization of a spiritual awakening, comes through the reality that you feel. It is the real inspiration that comes from your inner peace that can pique other people's curiosity enough to make them adventure into the realms of spirituality.

Fourthly, as you are approaching the end of the century, there are going to be a lot of people who are going to want to play upon your lack of inner peace, play upon your fears and insecurities. Some will be without the metaphysical/spiritual community, and unfortunately, some will be within it. There will be much more talk of doomsday, much more talk of devastation, to scare you. Therefore, it is important for you as an individual to establish a resonance of inner peace so as to avoid the seduction of fear and to stand as a point to uplift the resonance that is going to be pulled down -- intentionally by some, unfortunately. As you sense yourself as that beam of light, as that pillar, that spark, that seed, resonance will follow. You will either hold, lift, or decline. Inner peace can be a very useful tool for what you want to accomplish.

It is not only important to handle the blockbusters and the bugaboo emotions that stand so arduously in the way, but also to replace it with something. Replace what you have removed with four very important concepts: love, trust, expectancy and enthusiasm. To move in those directions, we first begin with talking about the blockbusters ...

Handling the Blockbusters

We don't have to go about defining anger. You can pretty much tell when someone's angry or when you're angry, though you may deny it or try to suppress it. But what to do about it?

It is very important that you release, or express and release, that anger. Clearly, if you do not, you stuff it inside in an arm or a leg and create arthritis, or in an internal organ and create a cancer. You are going to stuff it somewhere within you and create a miserable reality in one capacity or another. You really can't hide from it. But if you handle your anger properly, then you don't have to generate these other degenerative functions in your reality.

Now clearly, the expression of anger needs to be appropriate. Many can, in a way of malicious obedience, express anger in a totally inappropriate manner to prove that they should never have done it in the first place: Going to work and telling the boss what you really think of the clothes he wears or the way he treats his wife is not necessarily the most appropriate expression of anger. Verbal expression where another person is involved is the first way, and it needs to be appropriate.

Secondly, you can talk to yourself in the mirror. As you sit down in front of a mirror, that person looking back at you is awfully patient. They stay right there. They never go away or respond out of sorts. It's a very valuable way to vent a lot of emotion.

Then there's writing it out, and many of you can do that wonderfully in the journal keeping process. One of the most valuable ways to do it is The Hate Letter, as we sometimes call it. It is a letter that you write to the person. You never mail it, of course. But you write it and express the anger in as vehement a form as you possibly can, fluidly and quickly without paying attention to spelling, grammar or punctuation. Just get it out on that piece of paper. Do not sign the letter, "Love, so-and-so." Sign it, however, and fold it up and hide it. Play through the symbology of the way you've been hiding that feeling all along. The next day, pull it out and read it. Make it stronger: Cut out your editing and your diminishing. Make it strong. Then tuck it away, once again hiding it. The next day pull it out. Your tendency is going to be to skim it. Read it word for word, delicately reading it."Oh, this is getting boring." Exactly. As you are releasing it, it no longer has its charge. After you've read it this third time, then you safely burn it page by page to release the energy.

Another way is meditating it out. Go into meditation and visualize the person or situation, expressing that anger in as volatile and powerful a way as you can. Release it, and burn it out of your own system so that it doesn't lodge somewhere and create a deleterious reality.

The old angers from your childhood and adolescence have to be released also. One powerful method is to make your list of the top ten things that made you angry in your life. Take each one of them, and write it out as though you were telling someone how it happened. Then go into a meditation going back to that time. Refamiliarize yourself with that old environment. Where did you live? Where was your bedroom? What was the kitchen like? Then experience the situation the way it happened, doing what you did then: stuffing your anger, biting your tongue, crying, running off, swearing to never come out of your room again. Then, rather than stopping there, do an instant replay. This time, express what you wished you had. If you were so angry you could have kicked somebody, then kick somebody in meditation. "I'm going to burn down the house!" Fine, burn it down in meditation. Will that do something terrible? No, because your intention is to release the anger, not to produce it. Would that you were so confident of your positive programming as you are of your negative programming! It's the intention. And the intention is not to cause negativity, but to release the negativity and hurt you have carried all this time. Then write down a sentence or two as to how it felt. Then on another occasion (not the same day) do it a second time, and then on another day, a third time. Over time you'll work your way through the top ten. All that remains to do is the current anger.

Hurt is a little different, because hurt takes time to heal. Anger can be healed instantly: Someone makes you angry, you explode, you express it, they responsibly receive your anger and handle it, and you're done. It's not there an hour later. But hurt is a wound, a cut, a tear in your self-esteem, in your essence, and it takes time to heal.

Hurt is probably the worst thing you can do to somebody. If you make them angry, you can deal with that, depending on the degree and the intentionality. But if you hurt somebody, then that's harder to deal with because it does take time. It's harder for them to heal it, and it's more responsibility for you. It's the one emotion that has time. Therefore, the most devastating thing you can do to someone is to consciously hurt them. And to hurt them physically is less detrimental than hurting them emotionally, psychically or spiritually. A physical hurt can mend. You have torn an illusion, made a dark spot in a light. But an emotional hurt is real. A psychic hurt -- to lead them off their path -- is detrimental to their growth. You have slowed someone down. To spiritually hurt somebody, to spiritually misguide them, is the biggest hurt of all. It's the most devastating emotion you have. Likewise, once you move outside of time, hurt doesn't exist. It's the worst thing than can happen in your physical life because of the time factor, but once you move outside of time then hurt diminishes. So it all balances.

How do you deal with it? As with anger, you start with the old hurts: your top 10 hurts. You write them out. And you do much the same thing you did with anger: Play it through. Have an instant replay. Handle it the way you wish you could have. Then write a sentence or two about it. It is important to write it, because it is the movement of musculature and the electromagnetic energy of the nerves in the process of actually writing it down that makes it solid.

What about current hurts? Well, current hurts you handle a little differently. With the expression of hurt, it is important to let yourself feel it. Therefore, if you are hurting, then it is important to give yourself some time. Set up some time: 20 minutes on whatever evening. Plan it ahead of time. The trick here is that you don't think about other things: If you're feeling the hurt, feel the hurt, nothing else. As you focus in on it, it's going to get tedious for you. You'll find it very difficult to feel just hurt for 20 minutes solid. But experience that hurt for the 20 minutes, and then stop. Then go on and do whatever it is you planned to do that's going to be fun, that's going to cheer you up.

It may take two or three times, but do it in the same fashion, and you will release the hurt. It will be healed and you will be done. "But they have to heal it!" Don't count on it. They may not even know they did it, and furthermore, they really can't heal it. They can be responsible for it, and handle it responsibly, and make a commitment never to do it again. And that can feel wonderful, and is indeed an important part of it all. But you have to heal your own hurt. If you don't, it will turn to scar tissue just like any wound that isn't properly handled. It can get infected, and it can do damage to you.

Another thing about anger and hurt -- as they fit together - is to realize that in your society you have permission to feel one or the other. Women can feel hurt, but they're not allowed to be angry. So, if a woman gets angry and kicks a trash can across the room, she's "being a real bitch." The way a woman can express hurt is in tears. A woman can cry if she's happy, cry if she's sad, cry if she's angry, cry if she's hurt. A woman can basically cry. Any other expression: not allowed. So many women have a problem in terms of having worked with hurt, because that's all you've been allowed to work with. You may have a tremendous anger in there that you have hitherto let stay buried.

In reverse, men are allowed to be angry, but they're not allowed to be hurt. It's "weak" to be hurt. It is very uncomfortable both for men and women to see a man say, "I'm really hurting," or "You hurt me." So a lot of men have called hurt anger and tried to release anger and wondered why it's not working. You need to go back and deal with your hurt, even though society says it's "weak" for a man to be hurt.

We've talked of victimhood, we've talked of martyrhood, we've talked of self-pity au naturel, and there are numerous ways to handle it. But it all boils down to one concept: When you find yourself feeling self-pity, honestly ask yourself, "Who am I punishing?" And when you say, "Myself," don't accept that answer. That is true, but that only feeds your self-pity. "Who am I punishing?" Myself. Okay. And who else?

There's always someone out there whom you are punishing. Own that, when you find yourself wailing or sighing in your various forms of self-pity. Ask yourself,"Who and why? And do I really want to do that? I'm hurting somebody. I'm wounding them. I'm ripping their self-esteem." You may tell yourself that nobody knows you're in that place. Highly unlikely. Very seldom do victims and martyrs keep their victimhood and martyrhood private.

There's always the thing where you say, "No, no. I'm a victim and a martyr, and I'm only hurting myself." Yet when you're asked who has ever hurt you, you can list out this one and that one. What state of mind where they in? Victim and martyr. Well, if victims and martyrs only end up hurting themselves, how did they end up hurting you? Victims hurt other people. Martyrs hurt other people. If you will really face yourself in the mirror, and really own it, you will not be able to really justify continuing it. And that is the core of the various techniques we have talked of as to how to handle your self-pity.

Fear is the base emotion absolutely. The base fear is fear of loss. From the very moment that you separated from your beingness, from God/Goddess/All That Is, there was that fear: "What if I can't get back?" The very core fear, expressed biblically and mythologically in other forms, is the fear: "Can I return to paradise?" That basic fear then produces all kinds of fears, which produce all kinds of emotions. A lot of your anger, hurt and self-pity comes out of fear. But it is its own emotion as well, and there are ways to handle it. It is, perhaps, the blockbuster of blockbusters. And one of the most powerful ways to handle your fear is to face it ...

Now indeed, you can back up from a fear to get perspective on it. We're not saying you have to jump right in to every one of them. But if you've identified and have a fear of something, move toward it, metaphysically, meditatively. You don't have to literally go fly in a plane and see if you crash. You can play it through in your mind, and it's just as real to your nervous system and to your body.

There are two approaches: If there's something you're afraid of, play it through meditatively. That can release those kinds of "phobic" fears. More of the fears are emotional fears, however, and those you work with by facing them. Go into a meditation and face it. Experience the worst thing that can possibly happen. "I'm afraid I'll lose my job." Fine. Go into a meditation and lose your job. Get fired in the worst possibly way. Play it through and then make an alternative plan. "What will I do? I'll sell the house, the RV, go on vacation, and figure it out when I get back." Plan out your approach. Then play it through the way you want it to be. It sounds so simple, and it works.

With Love & Peace

In Part II Lazaris continues with the "Bugaboo Emotions" -- anxiety, confusion, worry and doubt -- and the tonics which are antidotes for them. Once they are released there is space which must be filled to prevent their returning, and Lazaris explores what we need to put in their place to permanently achieve inner peace.

Blog: Most Monumental Decade

By Lazaris

(Editor's note: Lazaris refers to the decade from 1990 through 1999 as the most monumental decade in the history of humankind on Earth.)

So often we have said that this decade -- the one that you are midway through even as we speak -- is the most important, the most monumental, decade in the history of humankind upon your earth. Even as monumentally important as other decades have been, this one is absolutely the most important, because it is in this decade that you, individually and then collectively, will decide the future of your Planet Earth. You will decide whether there will be a future or not. Though you will not implement that decision in this decade, this is the decade in which the decision, the choice, will be made.

Please hear that. You will not implement the decision in this decade. Despite what so many are telling you -- despite what many will tell you as the remaining years of this decade unfold -- you will not implement your decision in this decade. Neither nightmare nor dream is going to manifest within the next five years. Though both will be more available and reflections of each will be more visible, neither will manifest yet. As we have often said, even though many will choose no future, as reflected in a three-dimensional world as nightmare or mediocrity, most will choose a powerful and positive future -- a potent future as reflected in your dimensional world as The Dream. You will choose The Dream.

It is important to remember -- amid all the fearful rhetoric of doom and gloom, which too many are too quick to spout -- that the problem is not that there is no future: The problem is that there is a future, and you are responsible for creating it. You are responsible for making it a positive future of dreams filled with plenty of magic and miracles. It is up to you, individually and then collectively.

One voice, whether heroic, lyrical, or sacred, does matter. Though one voice may not be able to create it all for everyone, one voice can begin as other voices join in and rise to the occasion. Then many voices can complete what one voice began. But it has to begin, and it does begin, with you. Nothing changes until you do. We know it sounds like a cliche? or a platitude. Yet, in this decade, it is truer than it has ever been.

So many are ready to give up on your planet. So many are willing to fully entertain -- even to eagerly anticipate -- the end and a miserable and agonizing death: the death of humankind. The death of Earth. Don't give up.

Do not give up. There is a positive future of dreams. More, it can be yours. However, you have to choose it. It will not be delivered to you because you are a good little metaphysician or such a pure spiritual being. Your Higher Self, your Soul and Spirit, even God/Goddess/All That Is (or whatever you call the Divine) will not live your life for you, and they will not make your decision for you. They can help you -- they can intervene in the process -- but they will not do your life for you. You have to make the choice. Then they will be right there for you, filled with all kinds of love and all kinds of healing. You have to ask. You have to ask.

Do not give up. Make a decision and a choice. Make it consciously, or as consciously as you can. And then ask. Ask for more love and for more healing so that you might implement and manifest your decision and choice with greater ease, elegance, and excellence.

Beyond making the most important choice humankind will ever make, there are other issues that both make this decade so vital and that contain the seeds of lessons to learn.

We offer two examples. First, the control of the past has ended its grip -- its sometimes tyrannical, sometimes suffocating grip -- upon you and upon your reality. All the while the influence (not the control, but the influence) of the future is ever-increasing. Though the past still exists (we are not talking of memory loss here), its control upon you has been loosening for years. Now it has let go. The future, which has always been ultimately at the core of causation, has always been more influential than most would willingly admit or would dare think. Its influence is becoming more visible and more viable.

Part of the loosening of the past has resulted from the psychological work and, of course, the metaphysical and spiritual work you have been doing. Beyond that, the controlling hold of the past has now let go. Yes, there are those who will insist that the past is still a noose around their necks or a binding about their hands and feet. Many will insist that they are still prisoners of their past. However, more and more it is going to become apparent that it is they, not the mysterious wardens of the past, who are keeping themselves in prison. As they grip the bars of the past, demanding to be free, their tight grip holding the door shut will be the only grip that is there.

Part of the increasing influence of the future has resulted from the same psychological work and, even more so, from your metaphysical and spiritual work. It is not long into the realization that you create your own reality (and that you can become more and more conscious of that creation) that you begin to suspect the powerful role of the future. In time, you come to discover the incredible potency of the future.

The idea that you are an expression of who you are becoming, far more than you are a reflection of who you have been, is becoming truer and truer. You do not have to be at sufferance of your past. You can joyously embrace the future and see what it holds for you. More, you can actively and eagerly create new futures -- never-before-dreamt, never-before-imagined futures -- that can generate transforming and transcending growth, change, and evolution, and that open to a bounty of abundance filled with untold treasures of happiness and success. We do not speak in hyperbole here. We speak more literally than you know; more literally than you will let yourselves believe just yet.

Lessons? Learn to release your own past. Do not just continue to process it and process it over and over. Learn to release it. End your imprisonment to the messages, patterns, thoughts, feelings, and events that are your past. If you want to keep the same players (continue to relate to the same people), then find new roles for them and for you to play. You can still spend time with your family and with past friends, but find a new way to relate. For example, let your mother be a woman, and let your siblings be men and women. Let them be contemporary people with a future rather than remembered people with a past.

Lessons? Learn to work with the future. Learn to retrieve power from futures that may be dark and destructive, and learn how to use that power to create light and constructive futures that perhaps do not even exist right now. Learn how to lace the future with possible and actual dreams, desires and expectations. Learn to throw futures that will generate a mysterious, but no less effective, resonance that will produce amazing success. Space and time do not allow us to elaborate on the precise techniques of actually working with the future. However, let yourself ponder and savor the possibility. Let yourself consider: There are techniques that you have not yet begun to learn. There is so much out there that you do not yet understand and that does not yet make sense to you. But you do not always have to be someone who already knows. You can be someone who is about to know. You can be someone who is about to discover something new and exciting.

Pondering, savoring, and patiently sitting with these ideas will be a beginning. You will have begun working with the future.

Secondly, the ever-present evolution of human consciousness has, itself, changed. Succinctly, you are in the midst of an evolution that involves the very human species itself. This very physical evolution is more critical than when you developed your prehensile thumb, more important than when you first stood erect. It is big. Very big. Bigger than you yet know.

Now there are many who are picking up hints and clues of this evolution of species about which we speak. However, they are having problems translating what they sense into a workable and thus accurate understanding of what is really happening. Aware of this species evolution, they are thinking in linear terms. They are applying a chauvinistic or consensus logic and reason to what they sense. Thus you hear many talking about cranial enlargement (harkening back to the science fiction of the 1950s), about increased or decreased chromosomes, about DNA with any number of strands other than the double-helixed two that are already present, and about the next generation of human beings with superhuman academic capacities. Perhaps they mean well, but these are not the real changes that are afoot.

Your brain is a hologram created by your mind -- created by a more real self. The hologram of brain, in turn, generates the hologram of body and the hologram of three dimensions of space placed in one dimension of time. Your 3-D world is an illusion -- a very powerful and sometimes very painful illusion, an illusion that from inside it seems more real than anything. But it is still an illusion. You know this.

As a species, you have been calibrated and have calibrated yourself to experience reality in a certain way -- in the consensus way. Part of that calibration is to see the past and not the future. Part of it is to see through chauvinistic eyes and listen with chauvinistic ears, regardless of your gender. We are not meaning eyes and ears that think women are less than, though chauvinism still includes such archaic concepts for some. We mean the eyes and ears that can only think in either/or terms, or that think only in linear logic and reason, or that think in terms of singular supremacy rather than in ideas of cooperation.

Part of this calibration is to think that everything has to be fixed before it can change, rather than realizing that the lessons of the future -- of the millennium that is dawning -- are not about fixing. They are about changing.

In 1979 we said that the future is not about cleaning the old floor. It is about creating a new floor. You are moving into a new world. No, not a new order to an old world. You are moving into a new world.

To succeed, the human species must evolve the hologram of the brain. Simply put: You cannot watch color television on a black and white set. You cannot even see the dream and the new world with the current cranial hologram. You need a new hologram, and your mind is in the midst of evolving one.

Lessons? The old ways of growing and changing simply do not work. Those ways are too dependent upon discipline, admonishment, and criticism. Far too many are dependent upon harsh punishment. Though such techniques (except punishment which we have never condoned) have their place and their effectiveness, they have reached the point of diminishing returns. It is not about more discipline, more admonishment, or harsher criticism. It is about more love and more healing. It is about receiving. To survive into the future, it is important to do these new things more elegantly and with greater excellence. More love. More healing. More receiving.

Lessons? Be willing to stretch into the unknown -- into what you do not understand and into what does not make sense. More of who you really are is made up of what you do not understand about yourself than is made up of what you do understand. Even though you do not know where you are going, be willing to go there anyway. These are lessons of courage, of perseverance, of conviction. These are lessons of character, human character and spiritual character.

Each of you has ideals, goals that you reach for but will never fully realize. Even so, you are a better person for the stretch. And with those ideals you have certain principles -- rules that you align with in such a way as to lead you to, or to bring you closer, to those ideals. For example, you may have an ideal of seeking perfect love. Though you will never reach it, you are a better person for having tried. Along with this ideal, you may have a principle or two about honesty and fidelity.

Against this backdrop, character is the consistency and the frequency with which you apply or adhere to your principles. Many people claim the principles of honesty and fidelity. But if a person only applies or adheres to those principles when it is easy or convenient, they lack character. No matter how lofty their ideals nor how honorable their principles, if they only apply and adhere to them when it serves their self-interest, they lack character. Vise versa, obviously.

The lessons are also about character. Can you adhere to your ideals and principles? Are you willing and able to stand tall? Are you willing to take a stand upon your ideals and upon your principles? Are you willing to take a stand upon your beliefs and upon the highest truth? The current highest truth: You create your own reality by causing and by allowing, and you can become more and more conscious of your creation.

Are you willing and able to take a stand, to stand upon your beliefs and your highest truth? Are you willing to reach even higher? Are you willing to reach for a higher highest truth? Are you willing to reach for more liberating and illuminating beliefs?

This is the mark and measure. These are some of the issues and lessons. As you can respond (be responsible) and as you can receive (be receptive), you will make your maps, and you will dream and then weave your dreams. You will create visions and make realities like have never been made before.

You will found a new spirituality -- not find something that is already there, but rather be a founder of a new spirituality. And with it you forge a new world. Yes, you will.

Once, so long ago, as a new kind of human -- as a human being -- you stood up and discovered a world all around you. You discovered a world that was there all along. Now it is time to stand up a second time -- to stand up as a new kind of human being - as a god-being -- and to discover a new world all around you. However, this time it is to discover a world that has never been.

We love you.

Fear of Success

Blog: Fear of Success

By Lazaris

One has heard so often in the world out there about fears of failure. It was presented perhaps a decade ago as this revelatory understanding that there is fear of success.

And it became something of a catch phrase, something of a buzzword. "Your problem is you have fear of success." And it's true for many people. Ironically, for many people the fear of success is much bigger than the fear of failure. You have learned through conditioning, from the time you were a very small infant, to cope with and deal with failure. Everyone has faced failure many times. You can and do cope with failure. Likewise, you have come to face success as well. However, the "conditioning" to deal with and cope with success is never as thorough or as frequent. Therefore, truly so, success is more frightening than failure is.

However, the FEAR OF SUCCESS became such a catch phrase, such a witty, wise thing to say, that no one stopped to look at ... "Well, what does that really mean?"

The psychological concepts come forth in terms of contractual arrangements with parents. They are contracts like: "I will follow your footsteps, and I will never be better than my dad." Or they come in living up to the parental expectations, the slot that you were put in, your place in the family constellation. Lots of psychological concepts were presented, and again, they were very correct.

But here is what to look at now in this monumental decade, the 1990s. One could elaborate for hours on each of these dynamics, but briefly the mechanisms are as follows:

ONE First of all, success is scary because of the weight one gives it, the weight one places on what it means.

If you hold it inside that success means you're smarter, craftier, wiser or "slicker" (in the negative meaning of the word) than others, then success is very frightening.

If you hold that because you're successful you are therefore superior to or "better-than" other people -- that you are "entitled," that you are "endowed," that you have a right to be arrogant -- then success is scary.

When you hold that success validates you as being good and whole and right and true -- or when you hold that success exonerates you from things that would make a less successful person have to work with forgiveness (which truly does relieve the past) -- then success is scary.

If you attach these kinds of meanings, you weigh down success. Here's success, this thing, this essence. If you hang onto it all these weights of better-than, smarter, craftier, you make it far too heavy. And if you make it so very heavy, it begins to wobble, and indeed it can collapse. Therefore, success is scary because of the weight one gives it.

Further, it's scary because it never does any of those things. It never does make you smarter. It never does vindicate or validate you. It never does exonerate you or make you a perfect person. And if you hold that it will, success becomes very frightening.

So the first thing that makes success really scary is the weight that is attached to it.

TWO What's also frightening about it is that success is part of a creative dynamic. Whenever something is created, there's always something else that is destroyed. This is why Rollo May referred to the courage to create -- because there is always that conflict. As you create something, something else is destroyed. If nothing else, ignorance is destroyed. And this very dynamic of creativity also applies to success. It'll often be followed with guilt -- feeling guilty that you've done something, that you've changed the order of things, that you've stepped outside the normal range.

There may even be a feeling of doubt: "Have I done the right thing? What if I'm not heading in the right direction?" It's so very strange. We hear so many people who are succeeding wonderfully well, but their fear is: "Yes, but what if this wasn't what I was meant to do? What if I was supposed to become something else? Suppose my destiny was something else? What if I've somehow managed to land in this arena of success, and I'm flying along like crazy, and one day will wake up and realize I've missed the boat?" Doubt and the concern around that -- that's part of the creative function. Therefore, we would suggest here it's frightening.

THREE Success is also frightening because success carries chaos with it. We call success Light Chaos. But in your world, you're geared and conditioned to have no chaos at all. It's an outgrowth of adolescence where life is so absolutely, unbelievably chaotic that you try to stabilize it with the absolutes -- the always's and never's, the black's and white's -- of adolescence.

And you have come out of that period with the belief that, above all, you should not have chaos. Above all, have things orderly and smooth. And success has chaos. It brings chaos.

Success therefore erupts and brings forth what we call the "root emotion." Whenever success occurs, it brings out the dark side of self, turmoil and trouble. Therefore, of course, whenever chaos exists, chaos brings the eruption, or at least the disturbance, of the dark side. It brings out the Dark Law -- that basic, unbelievable truth that you hold onto. "I can never be happy," or "I will never be successful," or the various negative beliefs that you've now made into a Law.

Chaos brings questioning and the issue of reviewing self. All chaos does, whatever kind, be it physical or emotional, mental or spiritual. It also brings up issues from the past, issues from childhood.

So there are a number of reasons success is scary, in and of itself. And if you can understand that it is scary, and you can anticipate certain of these fears, then we would suggest you can resolve them.

FOUR One of the biggest reasons success is scary is because of what we call a faulty foundation. When you build a house, you lay a foundation and do all the things that are proper according to code. Then upon it you plan to erect a two-story residence.

Well, if in the midst of waiting for that foundation to dry, you decide, "I think I'll make better use of the space and build a ten-story skyscraper on top," the foundation won't hold.

What we mean by the foundation is the motivation. Why do I want to be successful in the first place? If the reason is not solid, if that's not the proper foundation -- solid or not -- then it's going to lean, to tip, to crack and crumble. And success, like a house of cards, will come down.

And what we mean by faulty foundation is: If you're trying to be successful in order to punish someone, that's a faulty foundation.

"I'll show them. All those kids in school who said I'd never amount to anything -- I'll show them, and I'll go back and rub their noses in it." Or, "I'll show my father," or "I'll show my mother." Or, "I'll get 'em and make them suffer. I'm going to be successful and then walk all over them."

Those are faulty motivations. We didn't say they're wrong or bad. We're not judging them. We're simply saying that they can't weather the weight of success.

If you're doing it to vindicate yourself, it's a faulty foundation. Vindication is a fascinating thing, because your consensus reality tells you to do things to vindicate yourself. It never works. Vindication has never worked. "I made a mistake, so now I'm going to do it right, and that will somehow expunge the record." No, forgiveness works, vindication doesn't.

Therefore, if you're trying to succeed to vindicate yourself -- "I really screwed up in my 20s and now in my 40s I'm going to be a triumphant success and that will expunge the record" -- it won't work. It never does. Even if you have a magnificent success, it never erases anything. Forgiveness can, but not vindication.

If you're doing something as a way to win approval, to win praise, to win the acceptance of another, it's a faulty motivation. Again, we're not saying it's a bad motivation. We're saying that it's too weak. It can support "this much" success for approval, for praise, but it can't support "this much more". When you pile this much on, OK. But more than that, and it starts to wobble and crumble. Indeed you can sabotage yourself and end up punishing yourself simply because the foundation, the motivation, the reason you want to be successful is faulty.

So from the weight of what you attach to the success, to the very foundation underneath it -- from the creative process to the chaotic process in between -- those are four very specific reasons (and there are others) why it's scary.

Now, if you can understand that for yourself, then you can change your motivations. You can rebuild and restructure a whole different foundation for being successful. You can take the weight off and realize that it's not going to make you smarter or better-than or give you license. You can be prepared for the chaos, and when it comes, you can work with it. You can handle it. You don't have to freak out and run away. You can be prepared for the guilt and doubt that's going to arise in the very dynamic of creativity.

So now when success comes, it doesn't have to be scary. And what fear is remaining, you can right. You can have the confidence to know that you can overcome it.

Now, certainly, there are a certain number of approaches and techniques one works with, but that, in a nutshell is what we're talking about when one looks at the fear of success.

Similarly, we have talked about fear itself. Fear is scary, yes? Everyone knows that, but no one really stops to look at why.

Certainly indeed fear is scary because it threatens not so much death, although the threat of destruction is a part of it. Mainly it's scary because it threatens impotence. An example: Perhaps you're not so much afraid of dying as you are afraid of pain in the process of dying. And even scarier is feeling that pain and not dying, and therefore having to live the rest of your life with that. That impotence -- that's the threat that fear offers.

But more than that, fear threatens the withdrawal of affection. Fear threatens the exposure of the Dark side of self. Fear also threatens the exposure of the Light Side of self, the positive qualities that people have that they've similarly learned to tuck away. It's what psychologists call the Shadow, the Dark Shadow and the Light Shadow. Fear threatens to expose them both.

Fear threatens also to produce or generate destruction. It threatens that you'll be totally obliterated, totally demolished - and short of it that, you won't have the gift of death, but that you'll have to survive.

And fear blackmails. Fear says, "If you don't watch out, we're going to cause you to have love withdrawn, and you're going to end up all alone and lonely." Or, "We're going to expose you, and everyone will see your ambition, and your aggressiveness, and the pride and hostility, and all those ugly things you thought you had hidden so well." Or, worse yet, "We're going to expose you, and they're going to see your power and strength and talent and all the beautiful parts that you've hidden away."

It's blackmail, just as if someone said, "We're going to expose something, so pay up." Well, that's what fear does. It says, "If you don't cooperate with us, if you don't be afraid of us, then we're going to do something, and you'd better pay up."

And as with any blackmail, if you expose it, you're safe. Why would love be withdrawn? What would happen to intimacy, the caring? What is that Dark Side that you're so afraid of, or the Light Side that you're even more afraid of? What could be the potential physical damage or maiming or impotence that would be there? What is the loneliness that would be there? What is the loneliness that it really threatens?

And as you can expose that to yourself, then you reduce -not eliminate, but reduce -- why fear is so scary. Once you reduce it, then fear can once again become that instinct that is a natural part of you -- the survival instinct of fight, flight, reproduce and feed yourself. It can become the teacher.

Fear was your first teacher, the very first one you ever had. The fear of mother withdrawing the nursing, the love, the nurturing. It is a great teacher. It is a motivator, certainly so. If necessity is the mother of invention, then too often the father of invention is fear. It can be a great motivator, and we would suggest it also haunts and looms. But it can also warn you, cause you to remind yourself and to keep within the boundaries of your own self and your own direction. Fear can be the boundary to let you know when you're getting off course.

So it can be very positive if you can take away the blackmail. And in that scope, once you remove the blackmail then you can learn to work with fear, and it doesn't have to be so frightening. It doesn't have to be the enemy. In fact, it can become a strange, but nonetheless very valuable, ally. And in this time, it is so important that people really not just say the words and let them pass on by, not just pay lip service to "fear of success," but that they also dig into it and really resolve these issues.

In this decade the greatest of fears and the greatest of joys will be there for humanity -- in an individual and a collective way -- to embrace. As you learn to handle both your right of success and the mask or the shadows of fear, then you can more readily choose the greatest joys and greatest of dreams, and work with and use those fears to implement them.
